4.24 / 5.00 13,401 ViewsSince the collab has gain some attention from people, I've decided to split up the threads to keep the sign-ups organized and also have a place where we can discuss some of the details as a group, rather then me trying to dictate the process completely.
Sign-ups can be found right here.
So, I guess firstly, I had a few ideas on how the flow of the collab would go (with the 30 seconds parts), but I know that people want to go towards a specific section where they're music will play... so I might stick with that.
But a popular question that was asked was the site which we'll host each of the 30 second parts because I mainly want this whole process to be transparent to the people who are involved in the collab, so they have somewhat of an idea of what the final form of the collab will be. If anyone has a good site, or even if we should use the dumping grounds here, tell me below.
I'll be working both through pm's and responding to both threads, so I can get this collab done in the fastest possible time.
Remember, this is PURELY DISCUSSION, so you won't get invited to the collab if you post in here. People who aren't a part of the collab can still post their ideas here as well.
But a popular question that was asked was the site which we'll host each of the 30 second parts
I'll be putting mine on my Dropbox. If y'all have one, just use that. If not you could always e-mail the file.
This is so hard for me.. 140bpm is so fast lol

This must be new... cuz I never even knew something like this existed lol... welp, time to go explore this lol
I'm new to the project system as well. I can use Soundcloud for the time being and use the Project System for the final audio.

Make sure that you keep the file to private so other people can't hear what your doing unless it's other collab members that want to hear.
Might I suggest making sure your BPM can be evenly divided by 8. What I mean by that is, each person will get 30 seconds of 4/4, right? So you'd want there to be exactly a certain multiple of 4 beats in those 30 seconds (1 minute divided by 2)... therefore, tempos such as 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160 etc. come to mind if you are thinking of a fast song... each would allow a certain number of measures in your piece... 120 BPM gives you 15 measures (yuck...), but 128 gives you 16 (which is great if you are doing a 4-bar chord progression). You could even have an extra two transition measures with 144.
I think this would make the collab a lot easier honestly.

That is, assuming every track will be in 4/4, or even in binary for that matter.

I just went with this bpm because it's what most people (I think) are used to. Maybe later on when I decide to do another collab, we can do a faster (or slower) bpm depending on what people want to work with...
But I see what your talking about... I should have given a little bit more thought to the bpm, but I think it'll work okay since people are limiting themselves to 30 secs.

I'm sorry, I guess you would have to change YOUR tempo slightly for 13/8.

lol, it just occurred to me that I never did a song in Bb at 140 bpm... this is turning to be quite the challenge lol
It is fast lol.

I work exclusively at 128-132 lol
I can't even think of a proper melody at this tempo ):

Go ahead and make one at that BPM... just keep it to 30 secs, and at Bb.

4/4, 10/4 and 6/8 fit 30 seconds. 140 BPM is pretty decent tempo. Almost anyone from any genre can use it.

Agreed... Me, Casey, and you have our parts done with this bpm.
the only thing I really ask is that it stay within the 30 sec range.
Alright, I'm off during the weekend... if you need anything, just pm me, and I'll respond by monday.

Presto? :P
I was just curious, what will determine placement? (As far as the individual parts go)

So far, it's just been whatever people told me they've wanted. I've been lucky to have only one person want to be in front and at the end as well, and everyone else has asked to be in the middle. I've also ordered it in terms of submissions and relevance as well, but because all the submission haven't come in yet, it isn't final with the order yet.
But the submission have come out extremely well... I'm pleasantly surprised how good this collab is turning.
PM'd my part, can't wait to hear the final product!
Crap, am I the only one here do chiptune?
Just uploaded something to the group. I read that it's supposed to be 4/4 but I changed time sigs a few times :X Tell me if I need to make any changes.
Also, I'm assuming you're asking for individual track wavs, right?
Umm....technically I'm not a confirmed member of this collab, but I've finished my part.
It's in 140bpm.

I considered doing a chiptune, but I wasn't sure how many other people would do one. At least somebody is :)
.
To be honest, everyone's done something different, so if you see no one else has done say, chiptune or trance or whathaveyou, you should probably take up the opportunity.
Or something like that. I'm doing trance, since 140 BPM is perfect for it.

I did trance at 128, maybe it'll transition well...

Discussion!
Ended up doing a nice, relaxed jazzy theme at 140, put it up on the project as my (possibly) final version. Might do some more mastering, idk.
Anyone try to fit their name in the track as well?
