Sometimes older software is just better. Alot of things now are just made to be pretty and appealing.

That might be true in the cases of games, such as Fallout 2 owning the shit out of the rest of the franchise. In browsers, it's all about speed and security. If you are going to stick with such an old piece of shit, you might just be better off using IE.

Sure, keep browsing an obsolete browser which is a lot less secure, unstable and slower.

A good example of this is the Adobe Suite.
Flash 8 was the bomb. I have no idea how they got it to where it is now (CS5).
In my opinion, they could've just added AS3 and a few other tiny features and made it Flash 9. If it wasn't made obsolete by AS3, I'd still be using Flash 8 today.
And while that opinion stands, I can't say the same for Firefox. 3.6 had some major security problems. I think this is probably for the best.

Firefox 3.6 is good for older computers who can't handle the stress of running a newer browser. It's sad to see it go, but given how long its been around it seems appropriate especially because of the security risks of using an old browser can have.

According to the article you can stop the auto update by disabling it.
I'm still using 3.6 so i've got a decision to make.
That's right I like guns and ponies. Problem cocksuckers?

Looks like someone was uninformed about 3.6 still getting updates, it has been for an extremely long time. It wont be fully obsolete until a security update is released that 3.6 doesnt get, which will be within the next month. Stop spouting absolute rubbish.

Its not obsolete until its dropped, which wont be until when youve said. Otherwise its just an equal alternative.
I dont know how you whining babies can even install browsers.
Anyway, when its fully dropped and I am forced to change, itll be kinda annoying, but Ill have to get used to it and I know of some addons which change the look as im not appreciative of the "streamlined" (read: chrome-copied) look that the newer ones have. Ill be able to sort out the other problems, so this change will just be bit of a pain. And mozilla wonder why they are losing so much ground to chrome.

I hate forced upgrades like when the PS3 got rid of alternative OS for the system or you couldn't go online anymore unless you updated

I'm using 12 right now. I don't have any quarrels with it.
Thinking about moving over to Chrome though.

My school has 3.6 on the computers there. I use Chrome because Firefox runs like shit most of the time at school. I use Firefox at home and it doesn't run like shit. The computers at school don't have a lot of RAM. The eMacs there only have 512 MB of RAM. I think the newer iMacs have 1 or 2 GB of RAM.

Well, I agree, nothing of value was lost since the newer firefox is better...but why use that unless you've got an old system?

Why does your school use Macs? Are they mad?

There are pros and cons for both sides of the argument. But it runs better can be said on both sides, but yes, it will probably run better, if you have a state of the art computer, brand new out of the box, as more and more websites have been designed with the latest browsers in mind.
On the flip side, your old, clunky machine is probably incapable of running the latest version of a browser at anywhere near peak efficiency. Much like a computer which was pretty fast 10 years ago couldn't hope to run anything more advanced than XP these days, when Windows 7 runs rings around it.
Gentlemen, I give you the march of technology.

Yes, they are. Those fucking computers are always having problems and they crash a lot.

After using Firefox from 2007-2011, I realize that it's a really outdated and clunky browser.
At least, since I started using Chrome, which IMO is a MUCH better browser.

School computers here have about 128 MB RAM and the proccesor speeds are probably in the 100-500 MHz. The graphics cards are probably an burned Raedon 3200.
