$2,000 a month, so that's 24k per year, which is fairly good for someone in his early 20's. What is that, $12 an hour? That sounds alright, especially if it's just starting pay, given that you don't live in a city. I wouldn't plan on attempting to raise a family on that, it's fine for single living.

The average US income in 2005 was $28,567 for all workers over the age of 15 (I imagine it would be a little bit higher now, but not by a lot), so it's a little below average, but not by much.
