New video format not working Apr. 19th, 2012 @ 09:49 PM Reply

The new video format isn't working for me. The videos either don't play at all or play with extreme lag, regardless of how long I let it buffer. Does anyone else get this problem?

Every time I open a movie and see that it's in the video player I cringe because that's one more thing I can't watch.

I got Flash CS4 in case you need something converted to CS3.

sounds like your computer is slow.

playing mp4 / h264 HD video needs special hardware requirements.

What kind of computer do you have?

It's a Compaq Presario desktop with a 3300+ AMD Athlon 64 Processor and 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory.

Yes, it's comparatively slow but I don't think my computer speed was the problem since videos work on YouTube just fine. At any rate, the videos seem to be working now so maybe they updated the system or something.

Ya your hardware is not designed for HD playback and h264.
And yes not all Youtube videos are HD, only a select few are in HD and you have to select that option.

I got the same issue: either nothing plays, or something horrible (the vid is mostly composed of random frames/frame pieces from 1-3 seconds before or after the "real" time of the video. but sound works fine)
here's the first few seconds of Starbarians, as an example of when it plays: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/c64efce9545ceaf32bf7fba4 a1c38022

my computer's not really slow so I don't believe that's the cause of it all...

I see, your computer is not compatible with the compression profile used with the video.

What kind of CPU and GPU do you have?

ya your GPU have very poor HD and h264 support, you need at least a Radeon HD 54XX or Radeon HD 63XX
