Welp, I knew I wasn't going to pass, but watching all those amazing animations are an inspiration to keep improving.

I still feel good to have participated. That was only my second animation and I know that it was far from perfect. If there is another NATA next year and I have the time, I will surely participate again.

I knew I wasn't going to move on to the next round, but being in this turnament was a great experience!
This was my longest animation and 3rd one I had ever made. I learned a lot by watching all of your entries and I will definately improve from this experience!

Oh my, I made it to the next round? I am of course happy to be able to participate in another round, but on the other hand, it's gonna be a veeeeery busy month. Well, I guess I'm not the only one. This is going to be very exciting, looking forward to it.

Anyways, it's late at night where I am (damn time zones), so I'll just have to wait till tomorrow with seeing the theme and such.

No, actually this in an alternate timeline. In the far off space year of 1999 from which you're actually from, you didn't get through. In fact, you got like... all 0s in every criteria.

is there going to be some critique\feedback on the submisions from the judges? just wondering, would be usefull to know where to focus improving.

Because of the high volume of entries in the open round, no. Judges are encouraged to write comments for the next few rounds, and really pushed to do so for the final couple rounds.

People assume that Animation is a strict progression of shape to tween, but actually from a nonlinear non-subjective
viewpoint it's more like a big ball of... arts-y wartsy, move-y wove-y... stuff.

The Novice Round is supposed to begin in 6 hours, but I'm thinking of starting it early, in about an hour or two. What do you all think?

As previously stated, each judge picked only their top 16 (or 18) favorites to decide qualifiers. The only two entrants that were listed but didn't make the top 32 were Krus Justice and TribeCollective. It's impossible to say "how close" any other entrants were to making it, since the cutoff was 16-18 entries for judges to select.

Judging for the following rounds will be strictly score based, and it will be much easier to deduce who stands where.

It's also worth mentioning that the Match-Ups have been posted!
