4.09 / 5.00 15,161 ViewsAfter Edd Gould passed away, i have that urge to start making animations as he has inspired me to animate and voice act. But i don't know what to buy as a beginner, i am willing to spend 140 Pound for a Microphone and Drawing tablet, but i need help finding the perfect one.
Up to now i am thinking to buy the 'Blue Snowball Microphone' and a 'Wacom Bamboo Tablet.'
Can anyone find me a better product which is in my budget range? (140 Pounds, not dollars)
Thanks.
That's about 223$ USD. You should remember that, because
it might be a good idea to buy from an American company like
tiger direct, or new egg. (Don't worry, they sell stuff to the
English.)
I can't speak on on tablets, as I use pencil and paper myself,
and don't animate.
However, on beginner microphones, I'd recommend either
the Yeti, or the Snowball, from Blue Microphones.

I don't know anything about pounds, but 140 of them for a drawing tablet and microphone sounds cheap. I'm using this tablet and I recommend it for a cheapish tablet that works well. There's a driver or two I had to install to get it to work right, but other than that I don't have any problems with it. Whether or not you can find that model for sale anywhere, however, is a different matter, because it's outdated at this point.

Cereal is pretty cool. If you're cool you'll add me on Steam. Also, Letterboxd.

I've been thinking that for awhile and i'm glad someone said it. Nobody is ever that positive, and the lack of a nose further annoys me. Thankfully I was able to put my prejudice aside and try to help you already.
This is for your own good.

BTW, any mic you find on blue mics, you can buy cheaper on amazon. But to
find out what you want, and or need, check them on blue mic first. Those
will really be good if your serious about voice acting.

Yeah, i am interested into voice acting, but i know my voice will bounce on the walls so it might sound shitty so i need to buy one of those pop screens.

Blue Snowball microphones are good. Make sure it comes with something to mount it on. There are microphone mounts which will clamp to your desk and can be adjusted for comfort. I've also heard good things about Wacom tablets, but I haven't used one.
If you're serious about animation and voice acting then there are a few things you'll want to remember:
1. Nothing detracts from a good animation like poor voice acting or sound quality does. Pop filters are good. Sound insulation is essential. Making a "voiceover box" out of wood or other material with sound insulation attached to the inside will give you a good place to record. You can face into it with your mic and it will block out most of the bouncing sound. That's just one simple way to do it, but you can look up many more effective ways on the Internet.
2. There's no substitute for hard work. The best tablet and mic in the world won't make your animations good. That being said, you don't need the best equipment necessarily. Take your time and make something you're proud of. The amount of time you put into the whole process is directly proportional to how good it will be.
3. The sound and visuals should work together. The rhythm that can be heard in the audio should be 'felt' in the video and the audio and video should be made for each other. Ideal audio shouldn't have places where there are no sound. You can work with one of the many talented artists on Newgrounds if you need custom music.
4. You'll become more skilled as you make more animations. Listen to any sincere criticism and keep striving to improve.
