Here's my ROUND 1 choices:
WESTERN ASSOCIATION:
1. Vancouver
VS
8. San Jose
San Jose barely qualified for the playoffs this year... they've been pretty sucky lately. Vancouver in 5. Unless 7ungo chokes already... ;)
2. St. Louis
VS
7. Los Angeles
St. Louis has the two strongest goalies in the western conference this year. St. Louis in 6.
3. Phoenix
VS
6. Chicago
While Phoenix did some pretty good job this year, I still think Chicago is the better team. Hawks in 7.
4. Nashville
VS
5. Detroit
Detroit isn't the new kids on the blocks. They've been to more Stanley Cups finale than any other team in the past 10 years. Detroit in 6.
EASTERN ASSOCIATION:
1. New York
VS
8. Washington
Washington sucks this year. Nuff said. New York in 5.
2. Boston*
VS
8. Ottawa
I hope I'm wrong, but Boston in 4.
3. Florida
VS
6. New Jersey
Here's me being optimistic. Florida in 7.
4. Pittsburgh
VS
5. Philadelphia
Pittsburg in 5. The cup to Crosby this year again.
I predict a Pittsburgh - St Louis Stanley Cup finale for 2012. I hope I'm right!

St. Louis vs. Boston for the Stanley Cup Finals. St. Louis wins the series 4-2. No I do not have a premis for such a prediction.

I really hope the Flyers get at least to the semi-finals this year, but the way they're playing, I'd be suprised if they win the first round.
I'd rather die a Wolf fighting against the Herder, than die a Sheep heading for the slaughter.

Pens will finish them pretty quickly, don't you worry.

I hope the Blackhawks can win the Stanley Cup again. At least they'll most likely win the first round. I thought they'd be playing the Kings. Funny how winning the division meant the difference between 3rd and 7th seed. And the Kings and Coyotes were just one point away from each other. Good thing they're realigning the conferences next season.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the Flyers, even with Crosby back with the Pens. They have generally played better against Pittsburgh at their place more so than at home for whatever reason, so I can see this series going the full 7 games.
Of course, that's assuming that Bryzgalov isn't spacing out like he seems to do, and if he does, then the Flyers will be screwed. I'll get to my predictions later.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

They almost did, although they were even closer last year. Tough break.

Nothing! I just prefer Pittsburgh :)
Since the Habs aren't doing the Playoffs this year... Go Pens!

Change of plans:
http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?type=PLA#&navid=nav-stn -plyfs
Boston is actually facing the Caps, and Ottawa is facing the Rangers.
Other than that, no changes.
Boston in 4, Ottawa in 7.

Right, well aside from your false start, this is the thread where it's at. A shame that there are no Avs and Habs in the playoffs, eh? Who have you got your eyes on for a draft pick?
Rangers to beat Sens in 5
Caps over Bruins in 6
Devils over Panthers in 5 - Brodeur is old, but not that old.
Pens over Flyers in 4
Canucks beat Kings in 5
Blues over Sharks in 6
Coyotes will beat the Hawks in 7
Wings over Preds in 6

I'm kinda mad the top two rookies that will be drafted in 2012 are probably going to be Russians... Nothing against Russians, but they DO tend to stop producing after a couple years... or they tend to slow down after they get their 10 million dollar a year contract ;)
But I hope they pick Mikhail Grigorenko over Nail Yakupov. Yakupov had a terrific season of 101 pts in 2010-2011, yet only 69 this season. Grigorenko also plays in Quebec City so he's already got a foot here, and had 85 pts this season. So it'll all depend on who Columbus picks, but I'm sure Montreal HAS to pick one of them.

Well, Malkin seems to be getting better each year, so it's not always the case.
But I hope they pick Mikhail Grigorenko over Nail Yakupov. Yakupov had a terrific season of 101 pts in 2010-2011, yet only 69 this season. You do realise that you're currently up for the 3rd pick? Columbus and Edmonton fall before you, but that will all get sorted on the 10th of April. Of course, you could lose out on the draft lottery, so you might not get the 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick, thus leaving you to look a little further down the board. The lowest you can draft is 4th, but the highest is 1st. Gives your scouts something to work with.
