I want to start making videos, preferably with sprites, and eventually upload to NG. What program is best? Any recommendations?

Flash 8 or CS3 is standard and exports to .swf with a file size that is usually not too large.

Get Flash CS 5.5. The previous versions of Flash (such as CS3 and 8) is gone.
Flash is made by Adobe, so I think you sould be able to get it at adobe.com.

Check out my flash animations, and games. I've also made some bad music, and art ;)

I animate for quite some time and I started too with sprite movies (back in 2007) on a account called leroyboy))

And what I did was watching as much tutorials as I could on newgrounds... I actually think I watched them all at least once.
after that I just learned stuff by watching movies and play them in Frame by frame.

and yes flash CS5.5 is the program you have to get :)
