Xenoblade hits American shelves this Friday, I personally cannot wait. I've played a bit of it on an emulator (6 or 7 hours) but much prefer playing on a console. If you like rpgs at all or wish to be part of an amazing experience I IMPLORE you to find a way to play this game. It is a modern day masterpiece imho that personifies everything great about the genre into one complete package, delivering well over 70 hours of gameplay.

What it has accomplished on a weaker system is down right inspirational, featuring one of the most fascinating worlds I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. The soundtrack imo is on par with games such as Chrono Trigger and really represent the beauty found in video game music. The concept or lore behind the story is also quite fascinating (two titans locked in battle, destroying each other at the same time, after which many Millenia life forms on the titans HOLY FUCK)

The combat system is also quite fresh, and most importantly FUN. The voice acting is decent as well, much better than most jrpgs.

Really, the only negative thing most people tend to say about this game is the graphical limitations of the Wii, which is true. The game looks like a late gen PS2 game but TRUST ME you will quickly overlook this minor gripe.

PLEASE support this game, it deserves it. So much heart and soul went into this and it shows. I know gamestop is a horrible company with bad practices, but overlook them just this one time and buy this game.

I hope this sells decently enough, although I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. Looking back on the great games of the past, some others didn't sell well either... (looking at you ico!)

Well enough free publicity I guess, I'll just leave this little melody here.

It will sell fine. Its pre order numbers in the US are close to 200,000 according to vgchartz. Im going to pick up my copy of this on Friday and I hope it lives up to the hype because personally Tales of games are my favorite JRPG games so it has a lot to live up to with this hype and I hope it doesn't disapoint. Games like this, Tales of Graces F and Tales of Xillia can use all the support we can give them to better the JRPG market in America.

Xenogears is a classic, but personally Xenoblade outperforms it in every area except perhaps story.

I would buy Xillia in an instant, but I passed on Graces F. I believe the Tales games rely too much on the stylings of old school rpg games, and as a result feel dated and archaic. I love Jrpgs games and even a few Tales games (Symphonia and Abyss was cool) but I wish they would try a different style with their next game.

Well you gotta remember Graces F was ported from the Wii so basing it off that it looks sort of like Tales of Symphonia 2 but in HD so yeah its going to feel dated because of that probably. Obviously Xillia the game made specifically for the PS3 is going to look awesome. But then again they did have vesperia on the 360 and in a way that kind of looked like Graces F to me lol.

By the way does Xenoblade have any multiplayer? One of the things I love about the Tales games is the fact that I can play them and enjoy the awesome story with my friends.

Well I guess I confirmed for my self no multiplayer co op component which kinda sucks for me since I like to get my friends involved in these kinds of games sometimes but oh well.

Game doesn't really play the way I was expecting it to either. Its going to take me a while to get used to the controls and what not. It seems pretty decent to start out though.

I never really expect multiplayer in jrpgs. I'm a single player type of gamer anyway, only games I multi in is SSBB.

Post back in here after you've played it enough to evaluate the game and give me your opinion on it. I don't get it till tomorrow, but I'm going to destroy that game as soon as I get it.

I'm about 15 hours in, and can safely say this is the most hooked I've been on a game in many many years. It is the first JRPG that I have ever played, but already I have gone and bought The Last Story for once this one is done with (this may be some time judging by the epic scale of the world though).

I love simply exploring. The story is great, but wandering around the Bionis Leg is enough on its own. The environments are like nothing I've ever seen before in a game, and while I know that many of the battle features and levelling systems are a convention of MMORPG games, it is fresh and enjoyable for a novice like me.

Forget that the graphics are technically poor, they are still plenty good enough. The marsh area I am currently exploring is as beatuful as anything in any game that I have seen, pixelated or not.

I'm glad that reviews convinced me to take a leap into a new genre- this is worth picking up whatever type of games you are into.

WAT?!?! FFX? this games got nth on that game. I just love how open it is. it really feels like skyrim, but better in a way (in my opinion atleast). the reason y I think its better because skyrim is too big of a game with too many decisions to be and im the kind of person that has to do everything carefully so I dont miss out on the fun which ends up ruining the fun -.- this game gives you freedom of choice, but not TOO big of a freedom that would leave me carefully watching my every step. its huge, it give a wide variety of quests, equipment, and level ups (like skills and tributes) and it carries an amazing battle mechanism. im only like 3 hours into the game, mostly spent doing side quests :p but from what ive seen so far, its an amazing game, and from what I hear, it only gets better :)

I must suck at this game or something. I can't even beat a simple giant spider enemy that I found despite being a higher level than it.

if theres one things I learned about his game is that the only way to defeat an enemy is to fight with a type of strategy. going in randomly attacking is only gonna get you killed. be sure to go to the shop and buy good gear, and I love how you can teleport anywhere anytime :) and does the spider have a special name? if so then he's stronger than the other enemies

Try inflicting break with Shulk, then topple with Reyn it does far more damage. I forget the skill names that do this but it says which ones does this during battle.

I'm about 14 hours in now, just made it into Colony 6. Also I take it back that this is the best rpg since FFX, seeing as I also enjoyed Kingdom Hearts 1 and Lost Odyssey. Still though, best rpg since Lost Odyssey.

I'm gonna have to look for a guide to which quests are worth doing. Honestly I'm the type of guy who will accept every quest I see but not actively seek them out. If i happen to do them so be it, but I don't want to miss any skill books.

Can you carry as many quests as you please? I have been hesitant on accepting any quests because I don't want the quest log to fill up if that is even possible.

Also I beat the giant spider finally. Just had to level up to 13 and all it took was one fierce long battle but I finally beat it.

You can accept as many quests as you want. I honestly don't like doing quests, would rather explore or grind but I don't want to miss skill books.

Oh the boss? You would be coming up on Bionis's leg in a bit, fantastic area. About as large as Gran Pulse in FFXIII and it's only one of 6(7? depending on the person) of the large areas of the game.

WARNING- SOME SPOILERS (though I have done my best to avoid anything major)

I'm coming up to 40 hours in now and Bionis's Leg still remains the best area in my opinion. I love how open it is as well as vast- it makes navigation much easier than some of the later areas where the scenery keeps getting in the way (the forest is especially prone to this, as is the marsh due to the mist). Saying that some of the later areas are stunning and full of surprises as well.

The last 10 hours of gameplay I've been on a quest drive- I haven't actually progressed in the story at all for some time (I'm jst about to go to Prison Island from the Eryth Sea), there are so many other things to do! Some of the quests are enormous in themselves (Colony 6 being the largest), and even though I can see that some of the quests are dull (the numerous kill x number of this monster, or collect this many of this thing), but some unlock whole other areas of the map (there is a major one in Satorl Marsh for example) as well as developing the NPCs into different story lines. It is also great for building affinity in my team, which I have quickly realised is the key to success- a good affinity in your team and suddenly chain attacks go on for 6 or 7 hits rather than 3. That makes a big difference against a lot of tougher enemies.

Still awesome- I lost 6 hours today without even realising I was so hooked on it- that hasn't happened to me in years!
