I had to stop and huddle inside a Kroger Meat locker. Power went out, the whole building was shaking. It was right on top of us man. I was thinking to myself, where is Bill Paxton when you need him, you know. (from Twister) I managed to snap off a quick photo of the cell forming above the store

Anyone else thinks its weird that tornadoes are moving further south in Texas towards regions they normally don't hit?...
In 2012?...

When I took this picture, there was sirens going off everywhere, then roughly thirty minutes. It hit the store and that is when the shit hit the fan. Turn on the news, it's everywhere

Fun Fact: Tornadoes are the hardest common natural disaster to predict, due to the fact that it only takes thirty seconds for one to form.
Were you screaming like a girl while running, or just running?

A lot of my family lives in Kansas and Oklahoma....
A few years back I was visiting them when a storm rolled in and created a bunch of tornados in the area.
I was scared to death. Scariest thing I've been through to date. The sky got green, the clouds formed spirals in the sky, and then it got dark. Now, dark in the city, and dark in the country are two different things. In the city it never really gets dark... you got city lights to illuminate the sky. In the country, you don't have that... so, dark is fucking dark.
You could only see the storm when lightning flashed. So it's nothing, nothing nothing, then lightning and you can see a tornado way off in the distance, then nothing, nothing, nothing, then lightning flashed and you could see a tornado way off in the distance.
I was little but I thought I was going to shit myself and die of terror right there on the spot.
I remember being really afraid of what it was going to sound like. I don't know why that was so scary to me... but I was afraid of hearing it more then I was feeling it.
I got lucky and none of them went through my immediate area, but they where all around us.
Glad you made it!

Topics like these make me really miss living down south. I love tornadoes, and used to want to be a storm chaser when I was a kid. What i wouldn't give to go through one right now. The rush of the wind....the raw power of the destructive force of nature all around you....destruction of everything you can see....just gives me shivers.
WOuld be so awesome to harness the power of 3 tornadoes and just unleash them on a city or something.

There were a couple in McAllen, Tx......you can't get much further south of there. They also had about 5 inches of hail.

That's my point... Tornadoes aren't native to those areas... And then New Zealand and Chile and Peru earthquakes are acting up again almost in synchronicity (if you know about tectonic plates, you would know why that's worrisome), then there was the warm winter...

I freaking hate tornadoes. I've been in several, I don't freak out, but I by no means want to chase one or film one. I am in my closet/bathroom wherever when warnings are issued. I'm in Louisiana so I do the hurricanes pretty often. I would rather a hurricane, than a tornado.
It's my understanding all of that crap that hit you is now heading toward me, so I'll just watch the radar and eat pizza and hopefully not die.

After I have my way and saved the day, I will smoke a cigarette and eat some of your pizza.

Even though those semi trailers are empty that's still impressive to watch because even empty they're 5-7 tons.

You're alright. In the event that I live, I will share my pizza with you. I have cheesy bread too.

I'm not a huge fan of the weather channel because they tend to hype everything up and they air a ton of crap that has nothing to do with weather, but they have some nice videos up right now on weather.com
If you have Facebook, you can follow Reed Timmer the storm chaser, he had that show on the Discovery Channel, and he has his own page where he streams video feed, posts pics etc.
But Reed will usually have info and locations on tornadoes before the media will. Last 2 tornado warnings I was under, Reed Timmer had them up on Facebook before my local news could broadcast it.

Travis posted so now I'm not double posting.
Accuweather also has some pics up. How bout those cars thrown into that house. Nice.
My car is in the garage, saving the tornadoes some time and effort.

DISD was making a big deal about it and I had to stay in class for 30 mins until my mom came inside to pick me up. I thought it was BS because tornadoes never come anywhere near Oakcliff. I heard the twisters were westward in Fort Worth.

The staff of our school though it would be a bright idea to cram 100 kids into every room on the first floor. No damn leg room, and I had to sit there on my ass for 2 hours straight until the bell rang for us to go home.
All the tornadoes were in Arlington and Fort Worth, not Dallas.
