I'm just going to ask...Do you speak Japanese? If so how are dubs horribly made in comparison, especially when some VA's sound pretty close to their Japanese counterparts (Laura Bailey sounds very similar to Chun-Li's Japanese VA, and Naruto's English and Japanese VA's sound similar to me). I would argue that their are many VA decisions in dubs that are better than the JP versions (DBZ is the first example that comes to mind, and yes the Funi dub. Ocean dub is lame).

I have to agree that some anime have a better japanese dub then an english one. Kanon 2006 is my example, that doesn't mean the english dub was bad just that the japanese dub was better. I do agree that I would rather listen to an english dub then have to look at the bottom of the screen to read the subtitles every few seconds.

Well naturally. Considering that said anime is made in Japan, 9 times out of 10, the original Japanese audio is going to be either on par or better than the English dub or any other language dub for that matter. Of course, they are exceptions to the rule, {Hellsing and Black Lagoon are the 2 best examples in which the English dub blows away the original audio.} but they're few and far between.
that doesn't mean the english dub was bad just that the japanese dub was better. I do agree that I would rather listen to an english dub then have to look at the bottom of the screen to read the subtitles every few seconds.
I'm 50/50 on dub or sub, so I don't have much of a problem with either. On one hand, most of my favorite anime series just so happens to have a decent to excellent dub, so obviously I wouldn't cringe when I watch it in English. But, in the case where the dub totally sucks ass or it's an old-school anime, then I'm not diametrically opposed to watch it in the sub version, it's kind of something to get used to after a while.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

I agree English dubs are mostly horrible, for example Ranma 1/2 it fucking made ranma sound like a pussy and the dialog is so cheesy and cliche, so I watch it in latino dub which the voices fit the characters really well
but i like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Dub A LOT in english.
This is my badly made signature.

Were you calling me a troll? I was serious. DBZ in Japanese is terrible. Goku, some extra buff dude, sounds like my little sister. Are you serious? I have watched some anime dubbed and subbed at the same time. The most recent one (Gundam 00), I really liked the selection of some of the VA for the dub. Especially Setsuna and Graham Acre (or however you spell that dudes last name). I personally feel though, that a lot of things have more power when you hear it in your native tongue, but whatever. I generally will choose a sub or dub (initially) based on how I can get the highest quality video.

Now that I think about it, there was this one guy who I used to know online who said he was a fan of "Fighting Foodons". In fact, he actually appeared as a character in Kirbopher's TTA movie, which has never been here, BTW. Of course, the guy was completely nuts in every sense of the word, as he kept saying that Cori Falls' fanfics were real, even though everyone hates her. Kirbopher got back at him by making him a villian in said movie.

Anime in itself is awesome, but there are some you should look out for! There are some that will you not give a good impression it's culture..and there are some that just suck....
The big three are ONE PEICE, BLEACH, and of course..NARUTO(but there is already a topic on that.)
Yes, Bleach especially- that is one of the reasons I hate Adult Swim and stopped watching it.
The network started going downhill when they put that on.
Most of the action anime they showed on Adult Swim is bad- all that monster and supernatural anime, GITS:SAC, Evangelon, Scryed, FMA, Inuyasha. I can't watch Inuyasha without feeling ill.
Xaphenon was worse than Evangelon.
There was some anime about two kids in a penny arcade- that was sickening.
I don't know if Avatar is considered anime- that is pretty horrific also.

Yeah because I totally said all dubs were bad and I totally need to be able to speak a language to be able to judge whether a voice actor is good or not. Thanks mr strawman maker.

i agree with all three of your reasons.
Gurren Lagaan> everything
Even if the characters DID get overpowered near the end, they were still weak or sub par most of the series. And the fact they are not immortal makes you care about the characters more, and because of that which will not be spoken, you feel at any moment ANY character can die. Nobody is free from deaths clutch.

You are really that stupid to you call other languages gibberish? After watching subbed anime for like 2 years now I can completely tell the syllables apart and almost know what they are saying. If course you wouldn't put any effort into something like that because you are a close minded douchebag who thinks he knows fuck all about anything.your knowledge of and dedication to anime hasnt even scratched the surface

Seriously, you could hire actors for the entire 2 series and you wouldn't even need a special effects department (or anything at all besides a school setting and a few musical instruments).
K-ON!'s artistic license is "cute girls do cute things with musical instruments." There's literally nothing else. If that isn't your thing, then SoL probably isn't your genre.

"Monster" was a fantastic story that ran on for something like 70 episodes and no, it actually did need that amount of time to flesh out. "Short and sweet" doesn't always apply.
2: The main characters are overpowered
Your description is too vague, when you say overpowered, do you mean that they're broken compared to other characters or do you mean that having planet destroying capabilities are a bad thing?
3: The plot goes out of control, sometimes not even making sense!
That's not something that's purely akin to anime, that's a common problem of all types of film making. Check out a movie called "Fading of the Cries", had a lot of potential to be a good Saban Entertainment-esque film but falls flat by the end where new plot elements are brought in without explanation, completely alienating the audience. If you need another example, look up the Matrix tetralogy.

Lot a people in here with superiority complexes, thinking they're right and everybody else is wrong, my opinion people will like what they like, may not be for me but doesn't mean they are in the wrong or they are some how lower than me. To that i will make a amendment to my previous statement Harem animes are not for me.
