Trust me, it will be better than the last one. I hope you enjoy my art and will help me along the way to become better.

Everything is rough and messy and sketchy. You have anything finished?

No I don't at the moment. I have my scanner and my tablet pen is in the mail.

You can make refined pieces that aren't digital.

I know, I'm working on something refined
Working on something for the Mutilate Shadman contest.

Some tips to help your life-drawing:
You appear to be seeing the crane at it's most basic level - the simple shapes are clear to you (eg. criss-crossing beams). However, you are drawing these shapes without clear consideration for the actual image you're seeing - you're mostly drawing what you think a crane should look like, rather than what the crane actually looks like in the scene. I'll explain further.
Each beam has a set width and length in reality, running at certain angles, and the way that they connect to each other is very important to the structure of the crane. The varied and random lines that you've created don't respect the reality of the image - just because it's a sketch it doesn't mean you have to depend on such uncontrolled strokes. Light is hitting the crane in a very specific way that can't really be replicated in such a fashion.
I'm not saying that you have to sketch an entire background to truly represent the scene, but understand that drawing the crane's interaction with the environment will help in the realism. In a certain instance the beam might look better when shown as white in contrast to the surrounding darker environment (although that's unlikely to be the case, considering a bright sky).
Even for a quick sketch like this, it's important to be aware of these things. Not sure if I explained it well enough though. Keep it up.
Some people made of cylinders.
Aight, I think I got this now. Using some base coating techniques to shade her

The file is large, so here's a link
You have to define a light source, and work from that.
Take a look into this and this.
Thanks for that, I'll keep it in mine on my next one.
Here's a flower I painted. Arcylic paints on a table tile. The edges say "faith"

If you add some values to the.. Stamen? The yellow bits of the flower - I think it'll add a new level of dynamics to the work. I'd considering buying something like this.
As for the anime - you need to develop your drawing skills much more before you go with color and shading. It's sort of like a car - if the car is less than functional - you have to tackle the bigger problem first. No engine? Well, don't worry about the flat tires or destroyed muffler until it actually starts.
I think studying anatomy would do much good too.

What that guy said! ^
Don't try to rush into aspects of art, like shading and coloring, when you still gotta work on them fundamentals a bit first. That is to say, unless you're working on all of them at once? Practicing anatomy whilst doing coloring studies. It's a pretty good way of practice. But focusing on the fundamentals is pretty vital. Good progress so far though! Can't wait to see what you can shoot our way after a few dozen or so pieces! After all that good learning sinks in! :D

Thanks for the encouragement :)
Zane, gave me some painting homework since i got my tablet
Something from my old sketchbook O_o
One of those mini sketchbooks Except it had a paper cover, I need to go get a new one :) and have my big one for larger sketches/paintings.

Hello, BlackMist.
Please, check this small sketch-tutorial-anatomy-whatever-thingy I did. I can see that you have trouble with anatomy, so I just want to help a fellow artist.
In this picture I show how I use to draw characters. This method works perfectly for me, so I assume it could help you too.
Excuse the MS Paint crappyness, but I thought that such progam was just enough to make this.
Have a nice day, buddy. :3
