Watching X-Play and it looks like Microsoft won't be talking about a new Xbox at E3 or anytime soon. Looks like all the Xbox fans will have to wait even longer now...
Do you think this is a good or bad move for Microsoft?

I think it's still way too early to even discuss the next generation of gaming. They should still focus on what they have now, and move on in a few years when it's necessary, due to the console hardware needing to be better to run the new games.

I hope it's a bad move.
But it'll really be sort of a good one... maybe?

Console hardware is already mildly outdated. A lot of games need to be dumbed down for them. Like BF3 having to come on two discs, reduced res textures and reduced framerate, and less players per match.

Battlefield 3 is a PC game, no matter how you put it. Porting it, no matter what they could do, does it no justice.

From what I've read, X-box was supposed to be coming out with a new product by the end of this year. But I got that info from the internet, which is about is reliable as a 5 year old blonde.

i really dont see a reason to release a new console yet, the xbox 360 was released like what, 6 years ago? and all games still run fine on it. And i dont know why you would want to pay an extra 400$ or so for a new console if xbox 360 is fine. Waste of money

A good move. I have enough issues with Microsoft's business practices that I most likely wont buy the next iteration. Not that they give a shit about one gamer and losing my three hundred bucks.

The 360 came out 4 years after the Original Xbox (01, 05)
The Wii came out 5 years after the Gamecube (01, 06)
The PS3 came out 6 years after the PS2. (00, 06)
The Wii-U will come out 6 years after the Wii (06, 12)
The Next Playstation will (apparently) come out 7 years after the PS3 (06, 13) (assuming)
The Next Xbox will (apparently) come out 8 years after the 360 (05, 13) (assuming)
Just saying.
Though, assuming the 97 in your name refers to your birthyear (it always does), you wouldn't have known this info anyway.

I hope they learned from their last console, not to rush a product. But I degrass, for their xbox indie market is really second to none.

I don't currently see anything wrong with the Xbox in its current state. Plus, if it means I get a chance to save the money up for a new console, I'm all for it not being released any time soon. I hate when the new generation of consoles are released and I have to wait a year or two before I actually get one and all that time I have to listen to people telling me how much fun it is.

Microsoft should be investing into new forms of computing such as quantum computers. The rate of improvement for hardware is slowing down, and silicon computers will eventually be the same every year. Microsoft needs to innovate, and create an unmatchable console.

No, it's not mildly outdated, it's massively outdated. It has been for years.

512MB of RAM...
The PS3 can't run Skyrim already because of it's measly 256MB of RAM, it won't be long until the 360 too is just completely incapable of running some games.
And then there's the business model, that allows only a few exclusive developers to make games for the consoles, and requires a lot of money to be paid. For what? Is this necessary?

Consoles will eventually be to the point that they will be releasing hardware upgrades for them, which begs the question as to why consoles exist since we do that with computers already. The only thing really keeping consoles alive is the already established console only game series they've developed, and the fact that they innovate gameplay like Nintendo tried to do with Wii.

Like I said, I currently have no issue with the performance of the current Xbox. The games look nice and run well. I could quite happily use the console for another year or two yet. Not saying I wouldn't like a better console, but I still maintain that there's nothing wrong with the current gen as is. I don't feel that the performance of my Xbox is bad enough yet for me to want to buy a new console.

I personally hate it when a new console comes out. Because then all the cool new games eventually stop coming out on your console, so you have to buy a new one thats like five hundred dollars. Ugh.

Microsoft's better letting PlayStation rush ahead so they can crash like they did with the PS3, then the XCocks can mop up the mess and pick up the disappointed Sony fans. :3

This is great news for me...why? Because Microsoft is already progressing really well with the console already...even though it has been out for quite awhile. If they release a console so early, fans will still stick on the 360. So in my opinion they should make a new console when the 360 starts to run dry.

Well if its true it would make my day but alas why are there so many rumors about the new Xbox this year? I think that it more likely there saying that to make people more surprised for this year E3, when they announce the new Xbox right? Damn all these things make my head hurt.

I do not think there needs to be a new X-Box. Simple as that. The one we have now is fine for now. If they came out with another one the most you could really do is up a few things and possibly install blue-ray.

To be honest, I'm actually happy with Microsoft not releasing their new console this year, {or maybe next year as well.} considering how the 360 is still doing pretty well even now. They shouldn't be caving in to the pressure of Nintendo and Sony releasing consoles, {Wii U and PS Vita respectfully.} by releasing a new console this year, probably due to what happen when the first 360s came out with a laundry list of problems with it.
I guess their strategy is to squeeze out as much as possible with the 360, like they were doing with the PS2, and then once it officially dries up, then they can go ahead with their new console, whether or not it's a wise move on their part is up for debate, but I still say it's a good move on their part.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

There is still so much potential in this current gaming hardware. I think it would be a harsh move to go and spend money to launch a brand new system right now. It is much easier for a consumer to buy new games than an entire new consul right now.
