I don't know if you guys remember my "Super Sexy Collab" which was a total failure since we pretty much got to nowhere.......
So yeah , to keep things short.
I have always wanted to make our own version of any song of the "real book" and i thought that this could be a pretty good idea to ask some of the audiogrounders to collab on this.
I was thinking that we could do The Saga of Harrison Crabfeathers I think we could make this in less than 2 weeks if everything goes nice.
I really don't know how much people could get on this. I would need a guitar player to play the melody of the sheet. If any other guitarists are interested , we could let them do the solos. I would also need a pianist and a bass player. I can do the drums and/or add some details.
We can post the files here via dumping grounds or you can pm me.
So what do you say people??
Let's take a break from all those wobbles

Why just a guitarist for the lead? Get a rhythm section and find a horn.
But who do we know that plays a wind instrument....if only...

I was kidding when I said that (cut time 220 would be 440). But 180-192 wouldn't be too bad if we wanted to feel it in two (dotted half = 60-64)
Otherwise 168 would be good for a ballad feel.
I'm down for either

Oh I thought that meant halftime. Then 200 sounded pretty good.
If I read the score right, then here's a midi and BandinaBox file that should be an okay backing track/guideline thing

I'm interested :) I haven't played this tune before, but it sounds lovely. Although, not sure what I can play if we already have a guitarist. I could probably do bass, if we don't get a bassist.

Freakin' dibs on the trumpet part, if Mihai doesn't show up!
I'm a jazz trumpeter, and I'd be glad to participate. I've already got the book, so it's no problem, and I'm pretty sure I could manage that song!

That's set to 138, way to slow (imho). There's no Aebersold for it, but if you step it up in Band-in-a-Box we can still use it. That's my vote, anyway; I'd like to see it done at 168 or higher.
If you don't have BB, I'll do it when I get back from Wisconsin.

I don't band in a box, so send me that file whenever you're done
and siney go ahead and join the collab , You were the first person that came into my mind (along with sbb) when i got the idea of the collab.
Also what do you guys rather for the drums??? Brushes or drum sticks?

You're the drummer. I'm not going to let you guys tell me what mouthpiece or reeds to use. Do what you want, mang.

Okay, well, I did a couple of takes - one at 165 bpm and the other at 195. After listening to them, I'm partial to the 165, but this is a democracy, and I'm flexible.
I do still think, however, the original 138 was too slow.
sorry about the Hammond organ, it was the best preset I could find for a waltz, and I didn't even hear it in the preview - only after it started rendering the .wav

Here you go, boyos.
I vote 165bpm, its more chill and personally I think it fits the song better :)

I agree to go with the 165 and go ahead if you want to do the bass.
I don't know why but the 165 mp3 starts distorting at 1:43

I checked them and they were both fine. I'll listen again when I get home (still out-of-state).

Ok - I think I fixed that. I also got rid of the strings (which I thought was a wurlitzer or hammond, earlier - oops).
Twice through the solo section, then the head again (as written). Ending is a little funny, BB adds a two bar tag for some reason and I haven't figured out how to not do that, so rhythm section, maybe collab on how you're going to end that (with fermata written four from the end).
Do we have the parts set? My unofficial count had three guitarists (all of whom said they'd do bass if they had to) drums, trumpet and sax.
Do we have a pianist? Who's playing the head, solo order - stuff of that nature?
Oh yeah, here's the fix'd version.

hey thanks for fixing the track , i can now hear all the track without distortion
so rhythm section, maybe collab on how you're going to end that (with fermata written four from the end).
I was thinking that maybe we could do a ending phrase. ( Im not really sure if that is the correct way to say it on english , i kinda suck at musical terms at other languages)

There's like 3 or 2 guys who showed interest on the collab but i haven't seen any confirmation yet

We really need to know who's with us on this. The only ones i think that are 100% on this are you,SBB and usernamemyarse. (im judging this by the amount of posts of the thread)
Oh yeah, here's the fix'd version.
Thank you

I just thought I was being blatantly ignored since no one acknowledged my offer, but yeah, I'm still down.

Sharkman and needlekid , you're welcome to join the collab. All the brass guys would need to organize their part on the song since i really don't have any experience on your instrument.
