Is it a problem that culture is leading us towards a more provocative style of dress - mainly for women?

I personally find this type of clothing unappealing and/or disrespectful. I do not agree with almost any Islamic philosophy except that your dress should be at least a LITTLE modest and that you should avoid overly-promiscuous behavior. (This is not a religious thread). Now, I don't mean we should all wear robes and veils; but, don't you think it would be better to present yourself in such a way that doesn't showcase your body to every stranger you see?

Not so. In the past, the only ones who would dress in a similar way were the prostitutes. I'm not saying everyone who does dress that way is a prostitute. But, you could look back until about the 90's and see the rapid shrinking of shirts and shorts etc.

Marilyn Monroe dressed in a way that was designed to give men boners. The clothes weren't as skimpy but it was the same idea.

Our idea of modest and our taboo against nudity or other expressions of the human body isn't universal and it hasn't always been the norm even in the western world.

Define provocative dress, If you mean the ones you see in music/SPIKE TV awards I disagree, there's a difference between provocation and slut. Being a dude I honestly don't care how much a women reveals herself, unless she's just straight up appalling or doesn't bathe often.

We're all just slowly (?) degrading and putting traditions aside.

Traditions and society are changing and have always been changing. It's not degradation, it's just how the world works.
People born into the old conditions think that the world is constantly changing for the worse, when in fact they only fear change.

Now, there has always been ups and downs. Never a steady, contant upward climb or steady decline. But it's a bit stretchy to say that we're going down 'cause of some silly clothing issues.

The less clothes, the easier to rape. So maybe somebody will teach them a lesson.

Not me of course.

Modesty is subjective and has changed throughout history and from culture to culture... you all are being a bunch of indignant puritans and it's really hilarious. Looks like most of General has their codpiece riding too tight. (a 15th century accessory to ACCENTUATE THE GENITALS)

So basically, fuck off, morons.

I totally disagree. People should be able to wear what they want unless it shows off inappropriate parts.
