should todays youth or any generation re-visit older generas/things of the parents age..
like me watching 50s-80s tv programing,
and on the other hand be living with up to date schooling things..

ie, doing a number of homework things on touchscreen interfaces and homograms, and then flipping on the tv to watch the latest episode of g.i.joe

is that a good idea?

I think kids today should be watching WW2 propaganda movies and drinking Moxie. While behaving honesty and eagerly.

They should re-visit older generations of things. They would get a feel of what it was like when people didn't have the video games and shit of today.

The neighbor's kid got issued an iPad, which he is expected to bring to school everyday... it's worthless. They submit no homework on it or anything - the school just drank Apple's Kool-Aid (propaganda) and bought these things, without training the staff or teachers how and what to use them for (my tax dollars at work for a bloated corporation). Meanwhile, the kids are still lugging hopelessly written, expensive textbooks around, with no locker time between classes.
Teacher's unions have destroyed education in favor of instruction following (which is what our government and corporations like). The system's been broken since WWII, so I have no direct opinion on the OP's subject.

Yes, please. The very least should be to watch Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry.

I like the idea of relating to the past, but not in the way you said it, which would be dull and boring. We should live intertwined with our past, learning from it and coming back to it from time to time.

Excellent idea. Kids today need to go back to the good ol' days of school punishment...when they had the paddle.

They should probably be taught some history, but I don't see any value in older media.

It's not any better than new media, the people that think kids should watch it are either sixty years old and want kids to watch things that they like, caught up in a bullshit conservative (not exactly in the political sense) mindset, or anti-technology.

Seriously, kids don't fucking understand or relate to anything from the 1950's it's sort of interesting but why should we make kids watch it?
