his sprite animations were my favorites back in the days when i was 14, i still consider his mario animations (typically the ROTMK series) as the best of the sprite animations ever made

Mario Vs Sonic was one of the first interactive flash animations I've ever seen. I did not know that it was created by this master. Rest In Peace.

I'll always remember ROTMK and the Yoshi's Island stuff. He had a great sense of humor and was monumental in pioneering the Newgrounds flash portal.

Well this sucks. I mean IT REALLY REALLY SUCKS. One of my favorite animators who did the Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom passes away at 36? That's just so sad. I mean, he did alot of great work in the past and ever since 2006 I always wondered about what happened to him? Man oh man I didn't know he passed away just now.

I know I shouldn't say this, but I will surely miss him and his animations that he created in sprite form. He was pretty creative and knew his material about Sega and Nintendo. Sure he used some fart jokes, but his masterpieces like Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom was a great example of putting sprites from a videogame to work. He shall be surely missed. :'(

RIP Randy Solem 1975-2012 You were a wonderful animator and you kept the mushroom kingdom at piece.

Rest in peace. I used to watch his stuff almost constantly when I first got the internet. Years later I find him again on NG, and A day later he passes away. He will be missed.

I've donated to things numerous times in the past. Nobody is saying anyone SHOULD donate, it's an 'if you want to. I've donated to programmers for freeware that I appreciated, I've donated to website owners for material I've appreciated, etc. Many of his fans loved his work and donated to costs such as hosting, etc. From a programmer perspective, when your coding and doing work for your own purposes, your putting well over a normal work week of time into giving people something to enjoy, many of us appreciate that.

Nobody 'should' donate, it's a completely free will, appreciated gesture.

Randy was my soon to be brother in law. He was a great guy and will be deeply missed. I just wanted to thank everyone for their support. My sister Danielle and their 2 kids really need it. I would also appreciate it if some people would stop asking how he died, or assuming.(it was NOT a drug over dose). Really what does it matter. We lost a great young talent, and my niece & nephew lost a their Dad. R.I.P. RANDY SOLEM......

Randy is my brother in law. He didnt die bc drugs or alcohol. you are a peice of shit for assuming. and that waste of money is my niece who he loved very much........ so know what you are saying bf you start running your mouth....
