I just want to put it out there that I asked for permission to create this new thread before I made it, just so I don't get reamed. I know you guys don't like clutter. But yeh, I come bearing new artworks.
Even after all these years I haven't really committed to a style yet...but hopefully that works in my favor. Here's some linework I did for an RPG project that I'm currently working on.

Seems to me you still do anime stuff... might be my cramped mind thats considering that to be A style, but yeah... I love your skill in designing characters as well as your technical ability when it comes to lines and shading; I'd love to see you apply those to a different style.. (i.e. non-anime)

It's like Santa Claus, except you bring art instead of gifts, and you reappear about every 2 years instead of annually.

I do more realistic stuff (but I don't think anything that can be considered "realism") on occasion. I'll be sure to upload one sometime soon. Thanks for the kind words, d00d.
and hey jonny, haha.

I can see where you come from in saying you don't have a definitive style, however they all represent skill in a certain sense! I thought you were familiar when you left a line in my thread, and I checked out your previous posts and remember admiring your linework from long ago. Glad to see you back at it though!
Keep posting. :D

Welcome back Cypress... its been a while...
I also agree with Rhunyc about seeing your linework pop up now and again... mostly in the MS paint thread i recall most of your work... its good to see your back!

Thanks for the warm welcome, folks. And thank you for pointing out the nose issue. I knew I should've brought it forward a little. Though regarding the shape, it's Tohru Adachi and his nose is practically vertical, which is why it looks so flat. But regardless, thank you. Any criticism is appreciated.
Anyway, I've been working on a style that I think makes a decent compromise between realism and manga. Let me know what you think:
Here is a full version.
same picture with some slight modifications. The wrist was REALLY bad--like REALLY bad. Too tapered, not in perspective. Hopefully fixed this time around.
a very quick speedpaint. Maybe a little over 40 mins. The objective was to sell the mood and major forms in as few strokes as possible.

This is awesome, excellent work for 40 minutes!
sotc ftw :D

Thanks, man. I've been doing my best to practice everything, even getting over my phobia of coloring. It may sound silly but I want to be good at every style of art, maybe with the exception of abstract.
Another speedpaint done for practice. It was done at this exact resolution.
Great stuff, keep it up. Only crit so far is that it looks like the blue haired woman doesn't have a neck.

Yeah, definitely. I got a lot of crits commenting the same thing. It was one of those things where I drew it very late at night and woke up to find much wrong with it. Been tinkering around in GIMP for a solution. Thanks, man!

Congrats on the FP with this man.
haha yeah I can't believe I have two pieces Frontpaged at the same time. My mind is blown. I have mixed feelings about it, though, cuz I feel like there are a lot of other artists who deserved it more than I do.

Really, really cool, man. I really like the epic scale of that landscape, and that your line art is so well thought out 3D it pops out of the page without shading.
Wondering what I should do with this lineart. I was thinking of making it full color, but then I thought maybe I should do a blue/orange cel shaded thing. Like make X different tones of blue shaded with orange and make zero different tones of orange shaded with blue. Dilemma.

Go with the second option, sounds more interesting as well as more challenging.
