Already gonna happen (well, maybe not in the girl's locker room). Congress passed a bill (HR 658 I think?) back in February to do so...

The thing is, these monitoring actions need to be regulated and designed to prevent abuse. The email monitoring has its uses, and the drones have numerous applications that don't involve Orwellian schemes.

I totally agree with you when you say that there are applications that can be gained from this (border security just to name one). I just don't trust those in charge who would regulate them to keep to the parameters they set.

If the govt. wants to do something, their going to do it regardless

If you're opposing censorship/digital privacy infringements purely because of their effect upon you, then you detracting from the resistance movement's credibility.

If you're opposing censorship/digital privacy infringements, it should be because of ethical disagreements, not because your worried about getting caught.

And the FBI can actually figure out EVERYTHING you've torrented and everything you've done on the internet, no really. A bunch of college students in the U.S did an assignment where they mailed the FBI and asked questions about their internet activity and they all got replies.

Also one of my friends had a big talk from the police and his parents because of his Facebook posts...

Basically someone must have alerted the cops on him and the cops have some sort of bypass that lets them read your FB posts and they saw all of his angsty FB posts and told him that they would keep monitoring his shit.

Seeing at I've been under investigation (for a top secret clearance) by the government, I don't give a fuck. I can assure you, the most that would come out of this is a room full of guys who have to browse through some peoples' emails and occasionally crowding around to laugh at something. Unless you have some email conversation about joining some radical foreign militia group, they're not gonna bother you.
