This system is actually way more robust than the previous one, and it looks nice too...
I do have a few suggestions/first impressions to voice, however:
- The scrolling to follow the page is awesome, but its a bit like "What just happened?", maybe it could start following the page scroll only if you've scrolled past the pod top? - Another reason for this is that it flies underneath the navbar at present, this isn't a huge problem, but it would go from looking nice to looking great.
- The icons are fixed in their arrangement, alphabetically as you've mentioned. I often find that, though I've been active on NG during the month, I haven't played or viewed a large portion of the frontpage material, and I usually used to look through all the candidates in the old system, and take the time to watch which ever ones sounded interesting to me. My suggestion is changing the icons from their current style to include genre info, and possibly adding the ability to do a live-filtering (like the mockup image I've posted below) using CSVs to pick out keywords in titles, authors, and genres. Once again, just an idea I think would help de-clutter things a bit.
