That's usually what I do, I've never story boarded before

Mine is,writing a plot, drawing it out as I go if I miss some details I'll add in later,then I paint it onto a cell animation.
I used to use flash a lot but it's just not the same as the traditional work.

This is how I do it:

1. Come up with completely stupid idea
2. Decide "HEY, I MIGHT JUST ANIMATE DAT SHIIIT"
3. Write out a very basic storyboard and script (it basically just looks like a little comic in my notepads)
4. Voicework and background music/sfx
5. ANIMAAAAATE DAT SHIIIIT
6. Cry when its done

In terms of the order of how I animate, I draw the backgrounds first, overlay the character, then do lip syncing.

1. sketch / storyboard ideas
2.record dialogue / music if any
3. rough backgrounds
4. rough : animatics / keyframes / inbetweens
5. polished keyframes then inbetweens (lip work if any)
6. colors
7. shadows
8. polished backgrounds
9. music / sfx editing
10. render tests

more or less the way i go about em, sometimes all sounds I save for last or do backgrounds first depending on the look and type of animation.

This is only for the biggies.

It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again

Turn on Livestream and Grooveshark, create the characters, write the script, record the audio and do the acting, make a storyboard/animatic, show my editor, plot out loose BGs, draw keyframes, draw extremes, draw inbetweens, color, show my editor again, bring all exported files into after effects and final cut for post production, watch completed episode!

I start out with photoshop like program (gimp, ectra) then export it all into flash, like the options of brushes way better.
I dont know how you pen users do it.

My Technique for animating goes like this:
Wait till it's 9:30 pm to start writing the story;
then I have a drink of Beer;
followed by a Chic-a-fila;
then watch anything done by Seth Mcfarlane; (This really gets the mind going)
followed by some more beer with honey roasted peanuts;
followed by another Beer to washed down he peanuts;
Then shower;
afterwards, I help myself to another bottle of beer;
then Sleep for two hours while television is left turned on;
then wake up with an idea worth animating.
Grab crayon, paper and start doodling,
Then I scream, "Tajū Kage Bunshin no Jutsu" POOF-POOF-POOF-POOf-poooooof
and Viola, an animation is created.

It works every time.

-look for references
-make a list of what scenes to work on first
- whip out the ol pen and pad and get to sketchin
- search online for references
- play some jpop/jrock music
- procrastinate

- render some scenes
-get pissed that the don't look anything like what i envisioned
-re do them

-finish and edit everthing

I dont actually write anything.
Everything will be in my mind
and I just start drawing rough sketches on paper.....
then scanning it....
Drawing it neatly in the software
Braking down the character
Drawing the BG and props
and finally start Animating

Well, I'm working on one of my first animations right now... For me it's basically going through it as I go, and planning in my head. I'll think of better techniques in the future. :P
