Yeah, when they're not hideous...
I'm a single father and a multimillionaire.
Aku. The embodyment of evil. Is formless, powerful, thoughtless, merciless, egotistic, ruthless, careless, and nearly invincible. Only problem is that he is not that smart, thought he can pull a clever trick or two; and that he is a coward.

Can't believe no one's mentioned this guy yet.
Zero Two from Kirby 64 purely because of the music and Zero from an older Kirby game ripped out his eye to try and kill Kirby.
It took me an hour to make this signature. You bastards better appreciate it.

Makuta Teridax. I'm actually amused that someone remembers him in this day and age. Teridax was an intersting character to say the least. Of course, he showed the most cunning and audacity in the early ages of the last decade. But I cannot grant him the title of a great villain. He was but an embodiment of a dark lord. Not complex or simple enough for him to stand with other greats. However, I must praise him nonetheless. He truly gives evil a new face.
As for my pick. I shall select a not so obvious villain: Bruce Wayne, the Batman from Christopher Nolan's Batman series. You may all wish to argue, but it cannot be denied that a vigilante is a villain nonetheless? Batman is complex figure. His actions are debatable. His myth is philosophical. But in the end, mos consider him a hero.
So, I'll offer another candidate: Light Yagami.
I'll leave this discussion at that.

Mine would have to be Dr. Horrible, although I only discovered the movie recently.

King Galbatorix but in the book only. The movie adaptation was horrible.
Mr. Freeze.
The only guy I'm aware of who's evil for a good reason, rather than for the sake of having evil in a story.
Joker's a close second. Also, Batman and Robin never happened.

Lol. Don't you kick his ass like three times over?
I didn't consider him that evil. He was pretty funny as a villain actually.

Nice one indeed. Though you can argue about how much of a villain he really is.

Anton Chigurh (No Country For Old Men) and Colonel Kurtz (Apocalypse Now).
