Simple question do you use cheats if so how often?
I never cheat until after i finish a game
Or if a boss is so hard i enter a cheat and kick it's ass just to blow of steam (note i save before the fight and load the save don't want to miss beating a boss fair and square)
Does anyone actually read these?

Yes, a lot. But only when I want to mess around, I never cheat when I'm trying to actually beat the game.

These days, no. The only time I can think of using cheats recently was when I wanted to unlock all the songs on Guitar Hero 3. Other than that, the last time I probably used cheats regularly was the PS2 era and even then I wouldn't using them until I had beaten the game properly first. GTA games were always fun to use cheats with.

Generally only to mess around but for newer games I don't even bother at all. Infact, using any possible cheat codes is never on my mind when playing them.

I'll only ever use cheats on a game when I've really wringed it of any other replay value - ie, I've beaten the game several times yet with cheats its a prime "fuck around with the system with friends" game, then sure, cheats.
Otherwise, no. Cheats, or hell even mods, take a lot out of a game for me, unless for the latter they're either well-developed additions or subtle accentuating.

I generally use cheats if it bypasses some boring grinding that has to be done to unlock extra stuff, and to mess around after beating the game.

Only when I want to fuck around a bit (i.e. GTA), but never to help me beat a level/game.

There are some games where I, well, cheat. Not most games, mind you, since there's rarely a game that interests me and challenges me enough to force me to dig out the Action Replay... But for every 'rarely' there's a Pokémon game that pulls the same stupid shit with distributions and needing things like either friends or a Wi-Fi connection. And I need to AR that motherfucker to get my hands on the Legendary Pokémon that I'd otherwise not get a chance to use because Nintendo seems to think that its fans will always have things that aren't always available.

I try to avoid using cheats in games that I am serious about until after I have beaten it. I think of cheats as a bit of a reward for beating the game normally.

The distribution Pokemon are easy to get now a days. I know there are times when people don't have internet, but the events usually last about a month or so, and you can just connect to a hot spot. I don't know where you live, but I know I always have somewhere that has internet.

I mostly just cheat to get extra lives. But, one time I used my Action Replay to complete the Pokédex in Pokémon Diamond. God, that was a stupid thing to do. I'm thinking of trading my good or legendary Pokémon to my Platinum and starting over on my Diamond.

I cheat on occasion, but it is usually just to play around. I also am 100% against cheating at MMORPGs and other online games unless they are specifically meant to be cheated on, like a MMO dating sim, because I would cheat on everyone! Mwahaha! Aw, I got a disease again. :/
Anyway, the best cheats are trainers which add additional features to a game. Halo had a trainer that added third-person perspective. Halo 2 had the same offering, but the third-person perspective was a little glitchy, so the best feature was the trainer's ability to pause the game, move the camera around in the paused scene, and take screenshots. Torchlight's "TorchCam" trainer is also very nice for giving me 3d camera controls. I hate Torchlight's fixed camera, but with TorchCam, the game is excellent.

I used to cheat when I got stuck, but now I never cheat unless I've already beaten the game. Most of the time not even then.
The only game I can even recall cheating on within the last few years is GTA IV. But even with that I beat the game first.

Oh totally, but not until I've finished the game. Or if there's a bug I'm trying to fix.
On skyrim I had to turn off combat to fix that forever mourning bug in the companions, but it worked, then I turned combat back on and resumed being attacked by bears.

Only when I fully finish a game and there isn't much fun left any more other than messing around with cheat codes.
A recent exception for me was Banjo Tooie, but while the game calls the Cheato codes "cheats", most of them are merely upgrades which I think are fair. They don't really spoil the gameplay or anything (although I toggled off fall proof and the regenerating health cheat).

I use cheats if it makes my experience playing the game more enjoyable.
In most cases I will avoid cheating as I like the games challenge and style, such things as infinite money etc. is silly as I like to make money as you do in the game, infinite hp I prefer the risk of being beaten.
However in other cases I find cheating actually makes the game better, in some cases makes it actually playable for me. Such things as Zeus Master of Olympus is a good example, I love making a town it's nice and I like to go at my own pace, what I don't enjoy is having to make it in a certain way to be able to call a hero to go kill some invading monster, frankly I am far more happy just killing the monster myself with a fireball from heavens cheat than pratting around with this stupid hero summoning annoyance instead of actually enjoying the game in the, and I quote, "sandbox" setting. It's meant to be played as you want, not have to fuck about with some scripted bullshit.
Such things as big head cheats and the like are stupid, but sometimes funny.
When this post hits 88 mph, you're going to see some serious friendship.

i only use cheats in a few situations:
only after ive beaten the game, or if there's an incredibly hard part that ive already failed at like 50 times or so
i like using cheats after ive beaten the game to go back and have fun

I've only used cheats to mess around with games or get something that you can only get through the cheats like Big Head Mode in NBA Jam.
