So, I haven't read the 4 pages history, but I'd still like to know what is going to happen on that weekend. Any plans yet ???
The Montreal 5 (minus one) just met to discuss the events of this year's meet and here are the results :
FRIDAY JUNE 8TH
1PM : BEERFEST
For those of you who will show up early at this meet, you're in luck. The Montreal Beerfestwill be in full swing! The plan is to meet at the Bonaventure metro station (orange line) at 1 PM. Just stay in the middle of the station (right after the turnstiles) so we can spot you as easily as possible. The place is free of entry, but you will need to buy tickets to get some booze (so try to show up with some cash, they don't take credit cards).
5PM : PEEL STATION (GREEN LINE)
Afterwards, you will have 2 options for dinner. Either you go the sushi/asian way of Kanda (an all you can eat sushi and asian food place for about 25$) or go with Pox for a more traditionnal meal (TBD). Either way, we meet at Peel station (Green line), in the middle of the stations BEFORE passing the turnstiles.
8 PM : DRUNK BOWLING
We will end the night at AMC FORUM's bowling lanes and bar. For those of you who will get there late, we will be waiting for you at ATWATER station (Green line) in the middle of the station (AFTER the turnstile) at 8. If you don't see us, just call me (PM me and I will send you my phone number).
SATURDAY JUNE 9TH
2 PM : OLD PORT AND STAR WARS EXHIBIT
On the next day, we will meet at 2 PM at the CHAMP-DE-MARS station (orange line, meet right before the turnstile) to head out the Old Port, one of the most beautiful and touristic zones of Montreal. There's a lot of things to do down there, but for nerds, the main attraction would be the Star Wars Identities exhibit at the Montreal Science Center. Admission is 11,50$.
5 PM : MCLEAN'S PUB (1210 Peel Street)
For dinner, let's go to an irish pub for some fast food. We will meet you guys directly at the bar, which is close to the PEEL station (green line). There's a lot of other restaurants in the area if you feel like eating something different.
7 PM : LA BOÃZTE ÃEU KARAOKÃo/oo (2071 St-Catherine's St. W)
This is always the high note of the Montreal meet. 20$ for a 4 liters pitcher of beer, people making fools out of themselves on stage, it's a good proof of how we haven't advanced much as a society in the last 100 years :D Quite entertaining though! Show early though, or else you'll be stuck with a very shitty place on the table.
FRIDAY JUNE 10TH
FREE DAY
Not much usually happens on this day, so you're free to do as you will. A lot of people usually organize something the day before, like a visit to the Biodome.
This is not a definitive schedule, but mostly a suggestion of things we should do. Some other activities we did in the past are still on the table, but need reservations (LaserQuest), so if you'd be interested, say it now and send the money ASAP so we can take care of it. We will not take the risk of doing approximative reservations and either lose money or see people waiting for us because of a lack of response.
PEACE OUT.
