Robin Williams as a serious actor Feb. 16th, 2012 @ 11:37 PM Reply

Has anybody ever seen Robin Williams in a dramatic role? The man has serious acting chops.

Most people only know him from his silly roles such as Good Morning Vietnam, and those movies are all good fun. But when he plays a serious role he is even more fantastic. You should see him as the killer in Insomnia, or the obsessive in One Hour Photo. Seriously, he will creep you the fuck out and send a chill down your spine. If you haven't seen either of those movies you should look them up right now.

Example.

Robin Williams as The Riddler in the next Batman movie? What do you think?

Watch the original Insomnia. The remake is good, but they tried to make the main character a little nicer.

I actually found out later that the guy was a comedian.
The majority of his films are dramas in my book.

What was that movie called where he was gay and he started talking on the phone with a sick teenager, and he thought the mum might've just been making him up so he went to go find her and found out she's blind? I only watched up to there

He played a murderer in one of the "Law And Order" shows.

I think the man would make a better comedian than actor.
Not that I find his acting bad, believe me, I think he's a good actor.
But the man is also funny as hell on the stand up. If he became a comedian, he'd shoot higher than the fuckin' moon.

I think that has been confirmed as a myth, I'm pretty sure, but I'm to busy to find the sources.

I was actually really surprised by this movie, it's quite a shame it went under the radar...

Personally, my favorite Robin Williams movie is The Fisher King, but I can't say if it should be placed under drama or comedy...

It's already common knowledge that the Riddler is not in the Dark Knight Rises. Also, that Robin Williams talk started when everybody was talking about the Dark Knight and that maybe Williams would be the Joker. I believe Nolan spoke on this, saying that Williams would be too old for the role.

Jumanji was a half comedy, but he still had to play a man who spent his chilhood away from society stuck in a perilous jungle, then get used to being stuck in the 90s with two kids and his old crush while running away from lions, earthquakes and carniverous plants.

You been under a rock lately?

Good Will Hunting is the movie that won Robin Williams an Oscar. I believe it to be that scene which won him the award.

I liked him in Dead Poets Society (although I didn't like the film), nut my favourite film with him is the fisher kings.

I do think he would've made a great Hugo Strange in the new batman though

Will Ferrell was also surprisingly good in Stranger than Fiction, in my opinion.
