In Toronto they have this law thing kind of where students are allowed to have their phones on them during classes, but can only use it for emergencies, but we're also allowed to use it as lunch and break as much as we want.

What would they do if they DID find it? It's not like they can suspend you, what you do in the privacy of your home isn't any of their business.

I am going to make myself sound like a pussy, but I am more worried about what my parents are going to think. They have caught me multiple times before, but nothing nearly as bad as this.

The only time I got my phone taken away in school was when some stupid bitch saw me with my phone out during lunch. It's fucking lunch! Why the fuck am I not allowed to use my phone during lunch?! But, sometimes I check my phone or text in class but, I am very careful so I don't get caught.

Well then why ban them? Even if they cheat in class he won't pass the state mandated graduation exam? I don't see the big bother about banning phones. Even if they cause a distraction if you have to ban them to stop kids from using them you aren't solving the root of the problem.

They do cause a major distraction, and while banning them may not solve problems pertaining to low attention span or disinterest in school, allowing them doesn't solve that problem either. But at least banning them takes one serious distraction and general time-waster out of the school completely.

There are a few teachers I have that let us use phones for researching or taking notes without paper in class provided they're actually smartphones and they have it out on their desk so everyone can see what they're doing.

Nobody hated school more than I did.

And one of the things I hated about it was having to sit and wait while the teacher tells you idiots over and over again to stop fucking around with your phones during class. Phones distract people from their education, but in the end everyone's education suffers for it.
