You do make a valid point in your argument, with the trucks and stuff, but still maybe his actions may have contributed to his death, but that doesn't mean he "deserved to die".

That sucks. I grew up in that area.
Saying things like "you're not going to shoot anyone" isn't necessarily stupid (especially if you know the person), but it is a gamble that could end with you getting shot to death.
The kid must have thought his stepdad couldn't possibly shoot him.
