Makes you fear it, so you'll take the stairs and burn an extra 3 calories.
There small and compact, can't leave it when its moving and its almost sounds proof!Perfect for any horror movies based on agile zombies and stealthy serial killers!
I used to have a fear of elevators because every time I watched a movie shit would go wrong in them. Now I'm alright with em though.
Just call me NGG. "They say love is in the air so I, Hold my breath till my face turns people."
A good amount of people probably have an irrational fear of elevators, so the entertainment industry uses that to their advantage to increase tension and scares. They're not always effective-- I guess you could say *puts on sunglasses* it has its ups and downs.
Many people have a fear of elevators breaking down, falling, or locking on them, those are relatively common fears. You might as well ask: "why do so many games and movies rely on the supernatural to provoke fear in the audience." Because many people have a fear of the supernatural and thus it is a fairly easy jump to try to scare them with a supernatural premise.
This sig is 100% effective protection from all hexes, curses, evil spirits and bad karma. Guaranteed.

The purpose of letting lazy people continue on, and so people don't die of exhaustion going up the Burj Khalifa.

Yeah but elevators are common every day things, the super natural is not.
Thus, they are very different things, if you are to put in perspective.
Elevators are to the supernatural as horses are to unicorns.

Elevators breaking down, falling or locking on a person are rather uncommon things to happen, the fear is mostly unfounded. All I'm saying is that people have fears and it's easier to capitalize fears that people have then fears that they do not.

It's funny because there has never been 1 recorded case of an elevator cable snapping and it falling to the bottom.
