can smoking and sport go together? Feb. 12th, 2012 @ 06:40 AM Reply

i'm 14, and i've been training rowing around 6 months. i'm a light smoker - i smoke 2-3 cigarettes per day. yesterday i was on a competition, and didn't get a good result. i felt short-breathed after it. is it connected and is there a way to make a compromise?

You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else.

This is actually what I thought the post might have been about to begin with. I've heard from friends who run track that on the rare occasions they do come to practice high, they can run and run without getting tired (or at least noticing their exhaustion).

But on topic, maybe quitting cigarettes is a good idea. No, there is no compromise.

Also, SCIENCE.

No, you cannot juggle the two together, smoking prohibits your ability to be athletic.

Maybe if you vape it or eat it. Any form of smoke in your lungs can fuck up your running stamina.

Furthermore, you shouldn't smoke weed before your turn 18. Your brain is still developing and it can limit your potential. Best to wait until you're 18 before toking up.

You're 14 and smoking? What do you have to be stressed about other than that 200 word assignment due in six weeks?

2-3 cigarettes per day? I don't think it will affect you much if you continue to keep fit everyday, for sports that involve running it might become problematic but there's more to sports than football, tennis, etc. Golfers can smoke, darts players, bowlers and maybe even rowers such as yourself (when kept in moderation, don't go smoking a pack a day).

Dude, smoking age 14 is never a good thing to do, least if you want to run track. Its your choice whether you'd rather be the guy who gave smoking for running, or gave up running for smoking though.

You can't run your track and smoke it too.
