Holy shit, I am genuinely shocked and upset by this news. She was a fabulous singer.

I think if she hadn't married Bobby Brown she'd still be around and her voice would be the same. What she saw in that loser is beyond me. I don't know how much of her drug use came from his influence, but getting beaten up by him wasn't all that great for her either. I think we'll see the same happened with her as with Amy Winehouse, in that even if you're clean drug use will come back to kill you through something such as heart failure.
I'm a little annoyed with ABC. Did they really have to break into programming for a special report that she died? Yes, it's newsworthy, but not enough to warrant that. When there's a special report I expect either a prominent world leader to have died or something major. Last time I remember them breaking into programming bin Laden was dead, but that was huge. This? No, reporting it on the nightly news is beyond me.

I don't know why anyone is sad. She hasn't had a career in YEEEEARRRS.

It may be callous of me to say this but; shit happens. It's too bad that anyone has to die, but they do, she was past her prime and had fallen into relative obscurity in recent times. I know she still had fans but, c'est la vie.
This sig is 100% effective protection from all hexes, curses, evil spirits and bad karma. Guaranteed.

I always heard my mom talk about her sometimes but i never gave any attention. She was an amazing singer though, i'll give her that. May she find peace wherever she is.

TV feels the need to do this more and more often. I think it's because it's the only way it can compete with social media.

My girlfriend was watching some tribute to her on TV today and they called her "the world's first black female superstar", and basically claimed that her rendition of the national anthem before the Superbowl XXV was what won the Gulf War.
Every time a celebrity dies they try to turn them into a folk hero or something. I remember her as a washed up crack head who was in a shitty Kevin Costner movie.

It's probably because you're 13.
You may have seen Family Guy make fun of her once or twice before.
Additionally, I hope this doesn't turn into a Michael Jackson thing where it goes on for about a year.

Haha what. Whitney Houston is probably one of the most famous women musicians (at least that's what I thought before I started reading all the 12 year olds "who is she" posts.)
BTW seen Tesla live, unoriginal band stuck in the 80's.

The first time I heard of Whitney Houston was in a song from Chef Aid, the south park CD from forever ago...
Chef sings "And whitney houston... on the radio babe, on the radio!" in his Simultaneous Loving song.
if anyone else owned this cd, props because I've never met a person who owned it
I owned two copies. Explicit and censored.
