Holy shit, I am genuinely shocked and upset by this news. She was a fabulous singer.

I don't know why anyone is sad. She hasn't had a career in YEEEEARRRS.

It may be callous of me to say this but; shit happens. It's too bad that anyone has to die, but they do, she was past her prime and had fallen into relative obscurity in recent times. I know she still had fans but, c'est la vie.

I always heard my mom talk about her sometimes but i never gave any attention. She was an amazing singer though, i'll give her that. May she find peace wherever she is.

My girlfriend was watching some tribute to her on TV today and they called her "the world's first black female superstar", and basically claimed that her rendition of the national anthem before the Superbowl XXV was what won the Gulf War.

Every time a celebrity dies they try to turn them into a folk hero or something. I remember her as a washed up crack head who was in a shitty Kevin Costner movie.

Does anyone actually care that she's dead?

Haha what. Whitney Houston is probably one of the most famous women musicians (at least that's what I thought before I started reading all the 12 year olds "who is she" posts.)

The first time I heard of Whitney Houston was in a song from Chef Aid, the south park CD from forever ago...

Chef sings "And whitney houston... on the radio babe, on the radio!" in his Simultaneous Loving song.
