Guys, could you help me? Feb. 10th, 2012 @ 04:59 PM Reply

I don't understand, I'm trying to upload a simple mp3 that IS sampled at 44.1 kHz, as well as under...WELL under 15 MB.

So, any reasons why the uploader isn't co-operating?

Try Audacity. That program seems to be one of the more compatible ones.

If it still doesn't work, might be a problem with what browser you're using.

Could you list your:
-operating system
-browser and version
-program you use to encode your .mp3s with

This error is being looked at currently. For some reason, many users are experiencing difficulty uploading their tracks ever since the redesign popped up. The admins are adressing the problem, so until then looks like you will have to use Soundcloud temporarily! :(

I'm using a Mac, so therefore can't use Audacity.

Firefox, latest (10.0.1(?))

Garageband encodes it to mp3...

I've heard that if any symbol or character that's not an actual letter is used in the title of the song... you'll get the invalid .mp3 error. Try renaming the track and re-uploading.

It always converts it to mp3, never m4a, unless I wanted to.

I used to get the same error. See if the mp3 has an image assigned (like album cover). I opened the track in Itunes, ctrl+i and then erased the image. Then uploaded again and it worked. See if this works for you.

In order to solve this problem, people should follow Mike's advice and PM him a link of your MP3 uploaded to the NG DUMP. Then he can figure out what is wrong in the coding. Thanks guys.

Really? an album cover stops it working? Must be this then.

I've noticed that if you have any kind of symbols in your mp3 file name, it won't upload at all. I had some difficulty uploading one of my songs on here until I figured out I had to take out the parenthesis in the file name.
