Hey guys, this is a 'simple' game I've been working on.
Okay, that's an understatement.

This game is founded on simple concepts in a complex genre, it's a Roguelike that's attempting to NOT have fifty commands. Instead, there are only three skills per class, and three stats. However, the game is still made to be addictive and has quite a bit of depth, with classes behaving completely different.

In addition, the presentation is supposed to be more of a cross between a roguelike/dungeon crawler and a text adventure, hence the name "TextCrawl."

I'm going to link to the current alpha build, this is constantly being updated and is essentially a 'what I have so far.'
As of February 10th, 2012, that includes several classes, two zones (the latter one being incomplete,) upgrades, churches, npc's, and basically almost all the elements of the final game (right now I'm re-balancing classes and finishing the second zone to work on the third, and final, zone, which will be the PentPlain area and have an endgame objective which I won't spoil.)

I would really like some running critique. This game isn't finished, but basically almost everything you see done will stay that way unless I deem it unbalanced or simply unfun.

This is the link to the game, in addition, it can be accessed as a tinyurl link with the url tag "/dungeonexplore"

Keep in mind this game is NOT meant to be easy, there IS permadeath (after a single second wind/continue,) and all events are completely random (yet fair.) Also, keep in mind that basically everything can be clicked on for more information.

So yes, comments/opinions/suggestions?

Good.

Ugh, the link simply refused to embed the first time. Well, here it is again.

This is really pretty cool, I liked the witty comments and interesting chracters and the simplicity is refreshing...great potential!!

I felt the text that shows when you bash/guard/parry was displayed too quickly, I know the battle needs to be kinda speedy but maybe just leave it on-screen a fraction longer so I can read it ;-)

Keep up the good work!

I actually temporarily sped up the game in the test build as to preserve my own sanity. Sometimes I wish I wasn't using AS2 so I could just dynamically adjust frame-rate.

Yeah, there are some advantages to using AS3 ;-)

I do like the pace, just needs to pause just a little longer on your own attack description! Anyway, all the best and I hope the game does really well!

Don't worry, the speed will be just right in the final build.

Good.
