Private gun ownership has been working great for us, in fact if the kid with the gun could've been a little more trigger happy, in theory, he could've incapacitated both the robbers after they shot the smartass. Even then situations that more than 2 people get shot in the same incident are relatively rare in the US.

Here happens always the same thing.

Good thing the shot didn't kill the kid. hopefully the bullet isn't near any major organs, or nerves and shit, and the robbers gang is smart enough not to do anything due to all the attention on this event will make any action not profitable.

It's true though, most robbers are doing it because they're desperate and think they have no other options, and aren't aiming to actually hurt anyone. There is no way to be ready for stuff like this. When you are outnumbered and the opposition already has their weapons drawn, you comply. Especially when there are many people who could be victimized by the opposition in the event that an idiot decides that he is John McClane.
