I made this little comparison after I came home from picking up a new set of headphones. I was disgusted at how shit those white, overpriced pieces of shit are so popular.

i'm using a pair of audio-technica ath m50s and they only cost ~100$ and i guarantee you that they are better than any pair of beats by dre

They're called "Beats" because that's a cool name to give them. Plus, there are headphones out there that are just as good if not better and lower in price. The only reason these are expensive is because of the brand name. And because people are suckers,

That is not an argument. Beats are the greatest example of clever marketing, and are designed only to make money. They are associated with generic hip hop artists, and that is all it takes to brainwash every teenager/adolescent into thinking they're high-end shit.

Honestly, they sound terrible. The bass is overpowered, but again, the manufacturers know that bass is all teenagers care about, with stuff like dubstep around. Mids and highs are drowned out completely.
