So...voice acting. If I had one question, it'd be this: How do you do it? What are the mechanics of learning to voice act and being a better voice actor? I recognize that quite many professionals can perform several distinctive voices, whilst still acting. I'm having trouble grappling both of those things. Is there a blood ritual or something? According to the Internet, the most important aspect of voice acting is how to work with others and make money. (I'm thinking the Internet can go fuck itself.) So, does anyone have any good advice or resources? Some insight perhaps into how to improve, how to develop distinctive voices that won't be recognized as the same person, how to avoid sounding cheesy?

I'm a decent vocalist, so if you want to explain in terms of things like vocal fry, vibrato, etc., that's okay.

it isn't "like" acting it IS acting. But yes I agree you have to learn how to show emotions with your voice rather than your face and actions. It can be hard but, with practice, quite rewarding. There are a few places you can go to get better at voice acting or learn. VA Radio Being one of those the other is right here on newgrounds as far as some basic info is concerned. (tech and such) I hope this helps.

Pretty much what those guys said. It helps if you can do a wide range of different voices, but the main selling point is your ability to convey emotion through only your voice. Which is one of the reasons why some people consider voice acting to be much more difficult than regular acting.
