Masking Button Error

Here, I used a mask within a button to get a screenshot from a game as the button's background. It looked great, working fine, both in the button editing view and once it was placed on the stage. As soon as I tested it, however, opening the SWF, it broke and ended up acting as if the mask was removed completely.

I'm using Flash CS3, and just in case it makes any difference, it's an AS3 file.

A mask layer cannot be inside a button...

Just make each button state an mc ... like so: .fla

Thank you SO MUCH! I don't know what I would have done--probably just remodeled the button in not nearly as pleasing a fashion. I really appreciate it a lot.
