Discworld movie? 2004-05-10 05:31:12 Reply

Having heard speculation (I know it's heresay but I'd like it to happen) that Terry Pratchett's Highly popular Discworld series is set to make the leap onto the silver screen, following in the footsteps of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, and possibly the cash they have reaped.

My question is thus: Which of the 28 (29 in October) would you like to see made into a film first? Also, who would star etc

I shall pledge my weight behind Mort, as it contains my favourite charachter, DEATH. (David Prowse could play him, because he stalks well in Star wars as Vader, with somebody else hired to do the voice, possibly Christopher Lee) I don't know who copuld be used to play Mort or Ysabell, though

Over to you, Ladies and Gents

They already made at least two that I know of, Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters- they were animated, though. I had no idea they were going the whole way with a proper film.

It'll probobly be Mort since that is meant to be the best one.

Personally, I think the game Discworld Noir should be made into a film...just for the banter.

Nah, just kidding. I'm still needing to read the books, I've been trying to finish 'His Dark Materials' first but the first half of Northern Lights sucks and I just can't get into it yet, seems it'll be a while till I can read the Discworld books.

The books are incredibly funny, I'm not so keen on the Watch series, but the witches, wizards and Death series are great. They had Christopher Lee (Count Dooku from Star Wars) play Death, and Neil Morrisey play Mort in the animated "Soul Music".

Sounds good indeed, but everyone is jumping on the bandwagon now in the fantasy stakes, i heard a rumour Stephen Kings the Darktower series is being made into movies aswell.

I'd love to see Discworld be made into a film... either the book where Death goes on vacation or where he gets his apprentice (Mort) would make an interesting film.

Death is my fav. too. I think that Johny Depp would be perfect for Rincewind. Mainly it would be great fun to see actors from LotR playing in Discworld moovie, since Discworld is a parody of fantasy realms :) But thats just my idea...

Reaper Man: Death became the personality Bill Door and was great at harvesting grain for some reason

or where he gets his apprentice (Mort) would make an interesting film.

Do Mort first, because it tells us how Death became more interested in his work than he really should be

You can't have Johnny Depp playing Rincewind, people want to see his face, not the back of his head, as Rincewind always runs away.

If there was a rincewind film, who would play the Librarian and the Luggage(or it's legs, at least)
