Comic Jam 2 Information Thread

Hi everyone!

I'm organising the follow up to the Comic Jam of last year, that will become known as the Comic Jam 2. You can see the results of that Comic Jam here. The difference this time is that the Comic Jam 2 is a competition.

What is it?

Similar to the Game Jam, the Comic Jam is a competition in which everyone is given a theme, and tasked to create a narrative-based comic based on that theme within three days. The theme will be given at the beginning of those three days.

What is a narrative-based comic?

A comic that tells a story, as opposed to a simple gag comic of the likes of Garfield.

Can I work with (a) partner/s?

Certainly! If you're an artist that wants to join but you're worried you can't write, then you can join up with a writer to create some sort of super comic. The same goes if you are a writer that cannot draw.

Artists can also team up with other artists to create comics together, if they want. For example, one person could do line art while the other colours. Be creative!

You can use this thread to find a partner if you want to.

How long should the comics be?

They can be any length you like, but the idea behind the Comic Jam is to create a comic that tells a story, which one-page comics are not necessarily well suited to. Ideally the comics should span a number of pages.

I, personally, will be challenging myself to create a 24-page comic by myself during the time (though I will not be competing, due to being a judge). If anyone wants to join me in that endeavour, then that's great, but not at all necessary.

What are the prizes?

The prizes, which have been generously donated by Newgrounds, are in the form of Newgrounds store credit:

1st: $30
2nd: $20
3rd: $10

That sounds great! When is it?

The Comic Jam will begin at 12:01am EST on Friday the 17th of February, when the theme is given, and will end at 11:59pm EST on Sunday the 19th of February.

Please use this thread for any questions relating to the Comic Jam. And if people post in the thread that they'd like to compete in this competition, then I'd be glad to PM them when it starts as a reminder.

I'm also looking for some people to judge the final entries. If this sounds like something you'd want to do, post in this thread and volunteer. Preferably the judges of this competition would be people that count reading comics as one of their hobbies.

I would be interested in being one of the jugdes for comic jam 2 if that's cool? I'm an aspiring comic artist and i read 9 new issues every 2 weeks so it's a definate hobby of mine so im one of the best to be chosen as a judge please pm and let me know :)

So my gf buys us tickets to some concert that i didnt know about and is forcing me to go..-__- talk about lack of communication, the concert is on the 18th. I said to myself you cant be serious! that leaves me about a day to draw everything out. Hopefully the theme doesn't make me over think.
