Would a well orchestrated out suicidal protest be effective
Ok Guys hear me out
Laws like sopa and other censorship laws are despised and public opinion is usually against them.
But what if a censorship anti-privacy law got passed and was enforced.
i am not talking about people who are intentionally downloading films and music, there are already reasonable laws in place for them.
i am talking about laws that want full monitoring of all telecommunications,
and want all your mail to be opened and read by government moderators!
Any way
here is my point
if it ever got to the point where police did hourly inspections of everyones home and person.
That would be annoying i have got nothing to hide, but being inspected so frequently or at all for that matter would piss me off
they might hear somebody humming or whistling in a way that resembles a copyrighted song in the privacy of their own home
That would probably become illegal due to a crazy new anti-privacy law
so if tonnes of people were arrested for silly reasons such as accidentally photographing a drinks can or some album art
and sharing a photo of there friends and family with such copyrighted material in the back ground
then things would be shitty and if all forms of 2 way electronic communications would be censored to a point of usability that would call for some kind of protest
if people made a detailed suicide note saying which law fucked up there life so much it rendered it so shitty it was no longer worth living
and laminated it to prevent it being damaged by blood or other bodily fluids
and got together in a public palace near a Town hall parliament or whatever
and killed themselves in protest
let me tell you how this is an effective way to protest
* they can see the note explaining what law was causing the problem
* they can see how it has ruined the life of the person
* It is a minor inconvenience for the law makers
* if a million people did this (IF things got REALLY REALLY SHITTY) then the voice expressing dismay will be heard
maybe we may not have to resort to this in our lifetime but maybe this will be of use to the guy looking at this in a digital archive in a hundred years time
which he is probably accessing illegally
