Web Censorship Mass Suicide Jan. 25th, 2012 @ 05:28 PM Reply

Would a well orchestrated out suicidal protest be effective

Ok Guys hear me out

Laws like sopa and other censorship laws are despised and public opinion is usually against them.
But what if a censorship anti-privacy law got passed and was enforced.
i am not talking about people who are intentionally downloading films and music, there are already reasonable laws in place for them.

i am talking about laws that want full monitoring of all telecommunications,
and want all your mail to be opened and read by government moderators!

Any way
here is my point

if it ever got to the point where police did hourly inspections of everyones home and person.
That would be annoying i have got nothing to hide, but being inspected so frequently or at all for that matter would piss me off

they might hear somebody humming or whistling in a way that resembles a copyrighted song in the privacy of their own home

That would probably become illegal due to a crazy new anti-privacy law

so if tonnes of people were arrested for silly reasons such as accidentally photographing a drinks can or some album art
and sharing a photo of there friends and family with such copyrighted material in the back ground
then things would be shitty and if all forms of 2 way electronic communications would be censored to a point of usability that would call for some kind of protest

if people made a detailed suicide note saying which law fucked up there life so much it rendered it so shitty it was no longer worth living

and laminated it to prevent it being damaged by blood or other bodily fluids
and got together in a public palace near a Town hall parliament or whatever
and killed themselves in protest

let me tell you how this is an effective way to protest
* they can see the note explaining what law was causing the problem
* they can see how it has ruined the life of the person
* It is a minor inconvenience for the law makers
* if a million people did this (IF things got REALLY REALLY SHITTY) then the voice expressing dismay will be heard

maybe we may not have to resort to this in our lifetime but maybe this will be of use to the guy looking at this in a digital archive in a hundred years time
which he is probably accessing illegally

You know what you could do? Make it so that all your communications are registered under an IP under an area that doesn't have such a thing.

Seriously, who even reads these things anymore?

I think mass politician homicide would be a better and far more exhilarating approach.

I'd rather kill myself than read all about a suicide protest, so alright, I'm in.

the plan is to have a suicide note that clearly states your reasons and motiv

the intention is that if the society becomes a dystopia
you would want to die any way
so why not spend it on voicing your dismay

if lots of people emulated the suicide protest then the government would have to dispose of dead body's

and pay for land fill
there losing money

What the hell is with all this In before comments
isn't that just as stupid as posting "first" on something that has no comments

and about it being locked

various censorship/anti-privacy laws would be locking IRL conversations
and if it ever got to a point where people like forum moderators control every part of your life
then there would be no point in living
if various anti-Privacy laws were in place
they would moderate the following
What you,Buy,say,think,eat,drink,hear,see,do,
and many more things
How you Walk,talk,eat,drink,think,sleep,wash etcetera

You're taking it to the illogical extreme, OP. Laws forbidding you from singing copyrighted songs would never pass, and they would be impossible to enforce. The police don't have enough resources and time to check everybody's house every month, much less every few days, to check that they aren't doing anything.

And suicide is for cowards.

they would simply get more police to moderate people
maybe even get them to work free for the rest of life
never underestimate the power of a free gun and a contract and a penalty for breaking said contract

And suicide is for cowards.

People are entitled to an opinion but people also have the right to die

i am not saying its going to happen but if it ever did....

I for one would be absolutely ecstatic if I heard that everybody who opposed me had committed suicide.

I know everybody dies eventually, I just hope an exception will be made in my case.

Next thing you know the government will pass a law declaring suicide threats as terrorism and arrest everyone planning the event.

Suicide protests are only effective if you light yourself on fire.

Preferably everyone at once in front of a government building.

Does the Internet mean that much to all of you?! You would take your own life just for others to have freedo-

Wait, that's what our soldiers do.

I would participate, but I have a family to take care of. You all will not die in vain!

Yeah well, this about real freedom, and not just some generic political buzzword.
