Hey. I am thinking about going over to a MacBook Pro 13"

I use my computer to:
Surf the internet
Programming in HTML, CSS etc
Play games (Only CS:S, Garry's Mod, Minecraft etc..)
Edit movies
Chatting (MSN and Skype)

Is it a good idea?

Can't play games on a Mac from what I've heard. Most games are made for winders.

Iffy on the gaming, but the rest should be fine.

Pretty basic stuff you could do on any laptop, to be honest. But if your heart is set on getting a Mac, then get one. It's whatever makes you happy.

Eh. If you want to pay the extra money for the brand name, then go for it.

You can try bootcamp. I'm a Windows user but from what i heard, it emulates Windows for Macs.

All those tasks will work on different laptops as well. It's your choice, if you prefer Mac OS then I'd say go for it.

In that case why not just get a Windows computer.

So that you have both OS on one machine and can swap between the two, and you'll be accepted in the local hipster Starbucks circle with your macbook.

You are an idiot. Of course its a bad idea, especially since youre using it for gaming. Have fun not being able to play like 4/5ths of games on steam.

Just what I needed, a expensive shiny coating on my Windows experience.

One complaint I still hear about Macs is that the lifespan of the laptops sometimes isn't any longer than a year or two. Furthermore, the warranty is no longer than a year (which is very short considering the money you pay for one), so if it does break down so soon you're fucked.

I don't know though. I suppose if you take good care of it it will last for quite a while, but perhaps you should consider the warranty when making the decision.

lolno.exe

You can get the exact same thing for less price and upgrade it whenever you want. Also, enjoy only a few games

I can't think of many situations where it would be worth getting a Mac over getting a Windows PC. You do very basic things, so just get a much better Windows computer for the price. I prefer Windows 7 to OS X anyways.

Really I've never had a windows laptop worth using. Those games I think are supported on mac. If you wanna keep it basic, Mac laptops tend to be better than windows laptops. But if you ever want a desktop. Never get a mac desktop. They make decent laptops, but shit desktops.

as far as efficiency, yes. I personally hate mac computers, I would never buy one. I also would never buy a laptop. But I were to, I wouldn't trust a windows one. Ive had multiple laptops, all trash. Ive had 2 desktops and they both were reliably. Macs generally designed to do basic things, again I do not do basic things, but If i did I'd use a mac. Also I'd never buy it new they are too expensive. but older versions of macbooks work just fine and they are just as much as a windows laptop.

Macs are total trash. I'm using one right now. You can barely run Garry's mod on full on the 1400$ 2010 model that is a desktop all in one. Its terrible and overpriced. Might as well buy a netbook, because that's all its really good for.

Ah shit. I got the same model your thinking of getting, I've had to replace the screen twice, probably going on a third (none of them my fault) and as an added bonus had to get two new MagSafe chargers. The ends fray really easily. I wouldn't mind it if the chargers were $20 and screens were $50 but when they are $60 and $150 to repair each, quite frankly it ain't worth it.

Gaming also sucks on it. VMware Fusion is decent if you wanna run Windows, Parellels is total trash and so is BootCamp.

To me, it is not really worth it at the end of the day with all the costs and shit.

Except for editing videos, PCs can do all of those things as well as a Mac for a fraction of the cost. If you have money to spend, just get 3 PCs.

No!! Mac computers suck for gaming! There isn't as big of a selection of games on Mac and since you use Steam, there aren't as many games available on Steam on a Mac.

Sorry, but I kinda changed since last time; I've quit gaming. I only play once every two months. from what I've heard Mac has great build quality.
