They actually should use a huge photo of Jimmy Wales and it should say "imagine a world without personal appeals"

Haha, nice one MindChamber. Seriously Tom, shut the whole site down, 8AM-Midnight. No back doors, no exceptions, just a message to the people. I'm extremely happy you're joining at all, but it's so simple to do it right, just go the extra mile.
I'm attempting to keep a small log of information as the day progresses, to see which sites will be participating in the blackout that aren't at this moment. The day is still quite early, so hopefully we will see more participants as everything unfolds.

This isnt just Newgrounds. Its the whole fucking internet. Newgounds, Bulbpedia, Wikipedia, Reddit, Deviantart.... fucking everything is going down, even google is going dark.
Here is the list of websites going down.

My point still stands.

I recommend you check CNN or MSNBC, or whatever major media site you're comfortable with hearing the news from, but they're now finally covering these bills, which they've been avoiding until this point. In fact, this is such a big deal that they're compelled to cover it despite the fact that their parent companies' interests all lie with the bills passing. It's not pointless. It's finally gotten the attention of the mainstream media, and it's heavily affecting the bills' support in government.

I mean, it's not like public sector workers going on strike and thus causing chaos due to their actions. People just won't be able to access some sites for a day. Maybe I'm just not seeing the big picture here.
Google, Yahoo and Microsoft each handle more revenue every day than the US Government does in a month. If a small percentage of public workers going on strike is enough to cause chaos and shut down critical functions, imagine what that kind of money being taken out of the global economy could do. And Google already joined the movement.

Actually on my end there isn't a simple way to replace every page of NG with a blackout page, although I could get Tim involved with that. I like to think the front page makes the statement to the general public, whereas anyone who knows they can still access the forums is someone who is aware of what is happening. We'll see, maybe the whole site will end up coming down.
Another way for them to gain money and power. The internet is a mass amount of entertainment and info. If they do this they will destroy so many jobs, and business. Are they full fledged retarded? At first it seem to impossible to be true. No one would do such a thing. But their awful idea is becoming more real. Totally behind you Tom 100%. Show them we dont want this.
I think the idea is to motivate people to do something about it. Obviously the NG blackout itself will do little (if anything) to harm SOPA and PIPA. But the fact that NG and so many other sites will be blacked out will make even the casual internet user aware of what's going on.
The main problem is that not enough people know about these bills and the damage they can cause. Blackout Day will try to fix that.

It's just to raise awareness:
For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia
It's not to cause mass chaos or burden the supporting parties with millions of dollars in damage. What's important is that more and more people realise that this act will effect them too and that they should protest against it as well.

You-- you-- you mean no Newgrounds?
Just kidding. Good work, but why only the frontpage?

Couldn't you just do what you guys do on April Fool's day where you stopped everyone from being able to view flash, play games, or listen to audio on newgrounds and got everyone grumpy because they couldn't play thing-thing arena 3?
