Those Wikipedia banners that we all know and love (and parody lol), have taken a bit more of a serious turn. If this stuff really becomes law, the Internet, as noted by Avenue Q, won't be "really really great" anymore.

I'm glad of it. The big Internet businesses and renown websites are taking a stand against a bill that can likely fuck up their shit and likely fuck up our already fucked up country. SOPA and PIPA and related bills can do damage when highly unneeded

You quoted Avenue Q and that makes you awesome and I now love and respect you.

Well, I guess I won't be reading wikipedia articles during my technology class where everything else interesting is blocked.
But definitely good that wikipedia is doing this, some more popular sites should join in.

I read Tom say something along the lines of perhaps joining the blackout. However, he said that'd he'd only blackout the main page, and allow people to still access their userpages. Sadly, I can't find the post. He may have deleted it so the jackasses who support SOPA/PIPA/SCREWWITHTHEINTERNETA bill(s) don't see it and think Tom was pussying out or something.

He is awesome during the time of quoting it. Before and or after that, he's a douche.

honestly i kinda don't like the thought of sites doing blackouts. Yes i understand its a from of protest, but its like a hunger strike, it doesn't make sense to me. You hurt your self to try and get at others, who aren't affected or care that you are suffering.

Yes, but it may cause the ones who do care about the sites to get really annoyed and demand, even more, that the government gives in. When they do the black out, I hope that they replace their site with a simple page that tells what it is and gives links to and forms to tell Congress what they think.

I felt the same way when YouTube stopped having videos showing episodes of shows and movies and I could watch whatever I wanted on that website. It's too bad we've reached a state where it's becoming even worse. It's funny, because while I've always hated Encyclopedia Dramatica, I think they would be the perfect people to combat this. Of course, Anonymous would probably be even better. Let's root for them.

Not the Protect IP act though. We didn't really pay as much attention to that, but it still will have pretty adverse effects how we use the internet.

They're just taking caution. Showing people what it would be like without such a big website should shake things up a bit and open some eyes. I think more sites should do this.

I found a great way to help stop this censorship. I was looking at ThatGuyWithTheGlasses and noticed the entire site was down until 8 tonight with several links to help protest.
Here's the link.
