If Death Metal isn't someone's cup of tea, that's fine, but to say a bassist like Alex Webster isn't progressively sound is just retarded.I know right? i tried to get it off course and i see your ears are not virgin to metal so i will ask..
Do you know any good posthardcore/metalcore bands that i have not mentioned on my post in this thread?
Most of my recommendations would fall in the parameters of the traditional forms of Metal, rather than something post, avant-garde, or otherwise modified.

Well, it's rare to hear anything in those styles that sounds fresh or new. Seems like there's still a big retro Thrash thing going on. I listened to a lot of those new bands trying to sound like, like Fastkill, Toxic Holocaust, Merciless Death (which happens to also be the title of an old Dark Angel tune), etc. There must have been a million Thrash bands just in the last five years. But one thing I noticed too is that a lot of them were kids from Death Metal and Grind bands just doing Thrash as a side project.
For something newish, try Axis of Advance. They broke up, but they had sort of an original sound in my opinion. I also liked Revenge, Angelcorpse, and Tyrant's Blood. Then the Swedish bands carrying on the "old" sound like Repugnant. I admit I have a guilty pleasure for that sort of thing, even if it isn't anything ground breaking or new. People have tried to turn me onto certain sounds, like the kind of music Forefather (England) plays. Not really my thing, but not horrid either. I don't know what to say about Metal. Ya' know, sometimes, no matter how creative a genre of music is, it just sorta' peaks.
