ive seen this type of problem before. a woman was brutally beaten by a strong man and from that point forward she hated men. she also cracked jokes about men to degrade them since the man had degraded her.

Doesn't sound like that big a deal. Every family has a few people who say/ believe stupid things.

If it makes you feel any better, my step- dad grew up in south east london having loads of fights with Muslims, which he never saw anything wrong with, and would tell us regularly why we shouldn't care about muslims.

One reason why I'm glad he disowned me.
