What do you guys do to stay awake?
For me now and then I would drink a can of energy drink. I know it's not the healthist way to deal with it but still, it could have been worse, at least it's not one of the original ingredient of America's favorite soda with a company based in Atlanta, Georgia.

I discretely listen to music during the lesson so I have SOMETHING to entertain me.
Can you feel it mister Krabs?
I sleep at night usually, then when i wake up i am ready to stay awake until i sleep again. Except for a few times where i barely got any sleep and i just slept in class.

I can suggest you America's favourite energy powder. The head company is based in Columbia :D
BTW Have you ever experienced loud bowel sounds while in classes?

If your body wants to go to sleep, let it sleep. When you wake up you'll have enough energy to stay awake for the rest of the class/school day. If you're having trouble staying awake in one particular class and that class happens to be at the end of the day, you're a bit screwed.
Butt is wet.

I shat myself in 1st grade, does that count?

I didn't feel bad about falling asleep because I viewed it as constructive critism.

Once I fell asleep in 1st hour and woke up a couple minutes into 2nd hour. I don't sleep in school a lot.
That happened last year.
In high school I did have trouble paying attention for 8 hours straight during all the classes I had. Especially in the last hour I started to feel sleepy and I wasn't exactly at my best in the early morning either. Fortunately, the school was smart enough to usually put classes like PE in such hours. Otherwise, there wasn't really anything I could do to stay awake other than just trying to deal with it. Chatting with some friends would sometimes help though.
Now that I'm in university I don't often have such long days anymore fortunately. And if I do feel too exhausted I can just go home if I want to.

I sit next to a wall, so in my left ear I have earphones with music on and in my right ear the boring speeches. Makes a nice balance to stay awake.

I sleep at night during reasonable hours.
Granted I may feel a tad drowsy in the early morning classes, I never sleep. Unless it's a study, which I sleep if I could.
The best things you can do to stay awake throughout the day are eat healthy, get a good night's sleep, and make sure to exercise at least three times a week. You need to make sure you have energy to be able to make it through a day. Healthy food, rest, and exercise are the best ways to do so.

I always have energy to stay awake. The only time I slept in class was in 3rd grade and I don't think I was tired. I was pretending to sleep to entertain my friends. I woke up like an hour after school ended. Although, there was a class one day in college were I almost fell asleep.
This is my signature. It is a nice signature.
I slept all the time in high school, some classes are just that boring to me. That's why I got into EMS. I love doing night shifts because we're allowed to sleep until we get a call. My advice though for anyone in school is to just go to sleep earlier, or do all your work at home ahead of time so you don't have to stay awake. If you stay a lecture ahead of your teacher, he/she probably won't give a shit if you sleep.
One thing that I don't understand is why most students are always going on about how much they need a coffee at any given moment. I don't drink coffee or energy drinks, yet I get through the day just fine. Pretty certain that I get up earlier than most of them as well, seeing as I have to be up at 6:30am each morning and I only get about 7 hours sleep each night, if that, so it's not as if I've had a plentiful amount of sleep to keep me active all day.
Where has this student caffeine dependency come from and why doesn't it apply to me?
To answer the original question, I don't really do anything special to stay awake in class. Sure, I drop in and out when it comes to giving my full attention but I think that's just the norm. I'd say that I'm listening to about 80% of the average lecture.

The never fail secret to staying awake is........
Ahem.
Getting enough sleep the night before. It doesn't cost anything, it doesn't make you constantly feel crap, and it makes it easier to actually get up in the morning. I used to go without sleep for ages, but now I get to sleep in time for 7 hours good rest, and rarely feel crappy :) feelsgoodman.gif

I got to bed at 10:30. Is that early enough?

I havent tryed this, but seems obivious:
Step 1. Ask to get out of class to take a piss etc...
Step 2. Take some ice cold water in your face.
Repeat the two steps if you get tired again.
Btw, don't be too long or someone might think you are masterubating ;)

You're not normal and that's the only plausible explanation I can think of. Young people are supposed to generally have a hard time getting up early and staying fully awake and alert.
I've always had serious trouble staying awake in class for as long as I can remember. Even that little caffeine boost I usually get from coffee doesn't do much to help me out. To function at an optimal level, I need about 10 to 11 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Any more or less, I get a lingering feeling of tiredness that pretty much stays with me for the duration of the day. I would always sleep in class whenever I could get away with it--fighting my body's natural urge is often utterly pointless. I never missed much anyway, since I study intensely while on the train, on the bus or at home.

I always used to sleep. Nobody gave a flying fuck.
As long as I handed up the assignments they were fine with it.

I can stay awake fine usually. But the second I get home I'll end up having a nap. Recently it has become physically impossible for me to not fall asleep at some point in between getting home and 6pm.
