Introducing Bitwig Studio, the new performance and production system. Coming soon.
So what are you guys' thoughts on this? I think it looks pretty cool. I'm describing it as "Ableton but it looks cooler and has a lot more features", and this isn't a surprise since the 4 developers used to work on Ableton (from what I've heard).
If it turns out being pretty cheap, I'll probably have to get it. It looks too good to pass up.
Can you feel it mister Krabs?

At the bottom they list future features: LAN multi-user jamming and Multi-user music production over the internet. If they can do that right it's going to be a big thing.

Right? That and the modular synth maker really sell me on this thing.

That's a pretty clean interface.. Kind of a mix of Ableton and Pro Tools. Then again, I have no experience with either, so I could be wrong.
I like it though! Depending on the cost I might get it for recording!

Man this looks sassy! I think its going to beat the pants off FLstudio, and I will migrate over as soon as it becomes available. This is what I've been dreaming of in a DAW for years. Per-note automation? Phwoar!

I see nothing new or exciting here. The UI is basically a copycat of Ableton. Ohm Studio already has a bug free collab DAW with a pretty strong community and cooler features. Get Reaktor if you want modular synthesis.
My thoughts on DAWs are......Cubase is good for syncing audio to picture. Ableton is good for DJing. Nuendo is good for post. Ohm is good for collabs. Protools is good for recording. FL is good for MIDI based music writing or for fast writing. But none of these are good at them ALL. If it can acheive that.....then I'll be impressed

I'm going to have to go with Logical here. It looks pretty much the same except anything that was white is now black.
Looking through the feature list, it doesn't really appear to have anything new compared to other DAWs... or FL Studio at least.

Sorry for double post, but I want to point out that I mean no new features APART FROM INTERNET JAMMING. So you don't have to get all up in arms because I fail to see how cool it is, blah blah blah.

Y'all have to remember that this is still in production. Which means that if this takes off, there will most likely be more features added.
FL Studio didn't start off where it's at now, right?

That's a pretty poor way to compare software.
I mean, this new DAW has the benchmark of all the current generation DAWs to start with, whereas they had to start from the bottom and work upwards.

I just want it because it's pretty and colorful.
That and a change of pace would be nice.

I believe FL studio and Ableton will have something to respond to these new daws when they come out. Don't be too hasty

I may ask for a programming job in this, or just be a volunteer. Either ways, it looks interesting.

This looks nice, to say the least. As someone who only knows FLStudio, I'm really looking forward to seeing what I can do with this DAW.

I was just about to make this thread... subscribed for a Beta invite anyway; the interface looks super slick... making me question whether to get Ableton Live.

If it's cheap, I'm sold... I don't want to pick up some older DAW that looks confusing as heck (Finale took long enough to learn, and it isn't even a proper DAW)... this layout looks understandable to me compared to other ones I have seen, and I might finally be able to have the visual control over my music I have been dreaming and drooling over for years.

That's what I'm thinking -- plus, the copy/paste from multiple documents opened at the same time could help me a little (take a MIDI melody from one song and quickly paste in another).
Wonder what the price will be...

Considering it's being made by a fairly small team of people, I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope that means it'll be cheap compared to other big name DAWs... Because this looks like something I could get into... But I'll likely pass if it's priced in a way that will destroy my bank account.

If it's relatively cheap ($99 or so), then they'd probably make a fortune on it. I would buy it if it were that cheap.

Yeah, sounds like a good price -- I can only hope it'll be that cheap, I guess. I've been looking to upgrade my DAW for a while, y'know, take my production to a new level. This might just be what I'm looking for.
I'm not very good at beta-testing; finding bugs and things like that, but I'd be more than happy to try out a demo when it's available. I'll keep this bookmarked!
Thanks for sharing this, SpaceWhale. This is why I like the NG community.
