I'm currently in production of a symbol-and-FBF based flash animated series that's largely comedy-based revolving around a group of super heroes.
What I'm outsourcing (primarily because I think a different style works on a comedic level), is a cut-scene of an "anime-style" fight between a girl with a glowing sword and a normal house lamp that has been magically transformed into a snake creature with a dragon's head.
Basically the lamp is transformed, girl pulls out her sword, dodges a few strikes, and then chops off the head of the snake. Animation would be anywhere from 15-20 seconds.
No sound, no color. I'm going to handle that end. Also character concepts and storyboards will be provided. However, since I'm not an anime specialist I'd like to leave something open to your interpretation.
It's going to be displayed at 24fps, so some denomination of that would probably work best (between 8,12 and 24), but so long as it can be exported cleanly to 24fps, it's fine. The idea was to keep the workflow in Flash, but I do have PS as well so if that's your tool of choice, that's fine.
This is strictly work-for-hire. You will be credited in the episode where your animation appears. We have a tentative date of "Spring", but remember that I'll need time to color what you've animated.
Pay is $50.00 USD with possibility of future work on later episodes.
If you think you might be interested, just reply with a link to your work.
Here is the series' prequel/promo that I'm currently using to generate interest in the project. Since it's transmedia and multi-genred, the promo does not reflect that the flash series specifically will be comedy, nor does it reflect exactly the style of the animated series.

If you have any questions, just ask! Additional info on the project can be found at www.facebook.com/OPJAMAS
I've also attached a picture of the character you'd be animating.
Thanks, and all responses are welcomed.

Here's also some of the actual symbols being used in the series. Most of these items are out of the WIP phase.

This is some of my more recent work that I still have saved: http://i40.tinypic.com/v30r4o.jpg
They're kinda anime-like, right? I don't really have many animation samples, but I do like to think of myself as a decent animator, so I suppose you have my word, if that counts for anything!
Anyway, I figured I'd try to sketch the character you provided as another example of some styles: http://i44.tinypic.com/2yy8uhi.jpg
One's more cartoony/anime like, while the other is a little more serious. Let me know if you're interested!

Hm. Honestly I'm all about giving someone just starting out a chance. My longterm hope is to establish some relationships with up and coming animators and artists and grow with them as they (and I) grow.
You said you feel you're a good animator -- but you've not animated anything previously?
Maybe it would be a good idea if you animated like...a couple seconds? We could even use those couple seconds in the actual final scene so as to not waste any of your work.
Also, I'm going to be doing some comic book stuff associated with the project, so even if the animation doesn't work out, there's still a good chance we could work together. I really like the style you have here, I just don't want you to get in over your head if you've never animated before, ya know? Maybe try and do a couple seconds and see how it looks/feels? I think that might be the best course of action.
Again, the setting is that she's in a bedroom, dressed in a black jump suit. She's standing over her bed where she's been unpacking clothes from a duffel bag. Her bedside lamp is transformed (by a teammate off screen) into a snake with dragon head. She (Tantrum) takes out her sword, ignites the sword's flaming function, then dodges a couple strikes from the snake creature, and then finally lops off its head.
Any two seconds of that you wanted to animate you could. Personally I love your style, but I should really see something from you that's animated. And like I said, even if it doesn't work out, I'm sure I can use you in some comics-related stuff.
Let me know if that works for you!
Thanks!

The thing is, for 50 bucks you can get one very good drawing.
15 sec at 24 fps, thats a looooooooooot of work.
Plus, the concept art that uve posted lacks a bit of creative talent. Bad color choice and a bit basic

Actually I have a few people over at DA who are interested now. There's a guy from the Phillipines that I met on Facebook whose done a lot of symbol anime style work who's going to look into seeing if he can adapt his style to the scene. He's sending me over animations to review.
Once I got some suggestions on these forums of where else to look, it was pretty easy to find some people. I'm keeping it open until the end of this week, though, just in case I find someone inspired.
As for the concept art lacking creative talent. Not sure to which concept art you're referencing. Are you speaking to the larger picture of the heroine, or are you pointing to the symbols? The promo?
I have had nothing but positive feedback from every other artist thus far. I'm not sure what you think is wrong about the color choices, but the flash symbols are a pretty standard character design for a sitcom flash animation show.
Thanks for your feedback. :)

From what I've seen on Newgrounds it's mostly creator-owned works or collabs on established properties. There's not a lot of work-for-hire stuff going on.
Which is completely fine. Thankfully a lot of people here pointed me to where I could find animators looking to get paid on an indie project.
I'm looking forward to becoming a more established member of Newgrounds once I launch my series. I think it's a wonderful place to spotlight your work, it's just not the best place to find paid talent.
