What has everyone got against D&D?!

The flash movie 8Bit D&Dhttp://www.newgrounds/com/portal/view/90046 and realised that the evidence is overwhelming:

D&D is percieved as either a) Evil, b) sad or c) something which unwashed students get up to during their time at university.

I would like to counter these views, having played it for 10 years myself and noticed no ill effects. If there are other rpg players out there who have noticed the same sort of thing, let me know. I mean PROPER rpg players, and not those people who have played things like Baldur's gate and their ilk. They are NOT rpgs. I mean the traditional paper and dice affairs, which for me take place in a pub, resulting in hours of alcohol fuelled merriment

i play D&D with friends from my school, its really hard because we are all unorganized.but when we have a good DM (COUGH COUGH ME! COUGH COUGH) its awesome and you can realy get into it, now everyone is doing it, and i see people who never even played the games are walking around with DM manuels, and now they all think they are better then me at it,

I totally see where you're coming from here. I know for a fact that Animal babies aren't retarded. I find it disgusting the way "The Decline of videogaming" shows what games will be like in the future, that's total bullshit.

I know that the flash movie is a joke. Truth be told I did laugh at it. What I am saying is that people like me get a negative press because we play D&D.

I don't want people to stop taking the piss, cos it's fun, I just want to know why a large swathe of people focus on D&D: what's it ever done to them?
