Back in the NES days, a company out of nowhere called Wisdom Tree started releasing Bible themed games without a license from Nintendo. The games were just rip offs of Nintendo's games though, and of poor quality.
When SNES came out, Nintendo got mad and put a lock on their console which prevented unlicensed games from being played. Wisdom Tree then developed a cartridge like the Game Genie with a slot on top of it. When you plug a licensed game on top of the Wisdom Tree game it bypasses the lock.
One of these games was called 'Super 3D Noah's Ark' which is just a replica of 'Wolfenstien 3D. They got the source code from the actual developer (ID) because ID was mad at the industry for some various reasons, so they gave it to them for the lols.
And you can find out all this information note for note by watching the Angry Video Game Nerd, which appears to be what you did.
Thanks for sharing information that someone else has already told us.
This sounds more like a vg forum topic.
Also yeah, I heard it first on AVGN. You forgot the part where Wisdom Tree used to be a different company, and produced equally shitty albiet slightly original games.

Yes, because the company is not really Christian and they are just using that untapped market to make money buy selling their games in Christian Bookstores.

Not really irony, more a hypocrisy. Unless the second part is true, then it's friggin awesome!
I actually have Bible Adventures. I don't have the NES I need to play it on, but I have the game!
Funny story, I asked about how long the game was in the store (when I was buying it), and the guy said that it's been in the store for as long as the store's been opened, and nobody had bought it.
Can you feel it mister Krabs?
Heard it all before, but it is interesting for someone who is interested in videogame trivia.
by the way, they're still around
also, they started out as Color Dreams, and originally made games that had absolutely nothing to do with the bible- one of their games features a girl tied up and the clothes rotting off her back, going as far as her underwear- this was later re-released with a stern old woman replacing the stripping girl, and (perhaps thankfully) her clothes don't rot, thereby removing any incentive to play the game, as the girl was really the best thing about the game.
Obviously they were unlicensed, because the big bad boys Nintendo of America didn't approve Christianity in their video games.
No offense taken, though.

What a shock.
In Christianity any building that is used to promote the faith and spread it's message are houses of the lord. To merchandise the Lord is a sin, and what that isn't taken well by Jesus Christ himself.
'Get these out of here! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!" -John 2:13-16
"And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all of them who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves." -Matthew 21:12-13
People can do corrupt things in the name of their faith, considering that the faith itself acts as an emotional crutch for billions.

He's talking about the church, not a video game company with bible themes, how hard is that to understand?

She's talking about how wisdom tree is making a buisness with their faith, only going after money.

Exactly, they're merchandising their God. Turning their faith into some gross profit in the eyes of Jesus Christ.

I already said the way they went about it was shady and unoriginal , but there is nothing wrong with making Christian video games, if you are a christian, and you are a developer, then your games will probably have christian influence.

If you're a Christian games developer then you shouldn't be profiting from them. You should either be doing them for free or for charity. It is the capitalist gain which is disallowed in the faith. It's greed.

This is a common misconception about Christianity. People have to make money to eat. Whats the developer supposed to do, work for a secular company that makes witchcraft themed games, and then make Christian ones for free? Its just ridiculous, or he is supposed to make puzzles with no theme for money, then make the christian ones for free? ha ha ha

Yes, people are suppose to make money to live but they don't have to market their own faith to do so. I'm not arguing from an outside perspective but from a Christian one, because in your faith this isn't something that you should support. Your faith forbids, like a lot of things you actively do. The Bible itself is what you should be addressing, not me.
I LIKE MONEY

It has been addressed , no thanks to you, good day.
I was just thinking of Bible games- I came up with some ideas for Christian games that is actually good.
This really isnt thread worthy, I mean who gives a shit?
