Theres another reason why animators dont just flat out do it for free. You know APART from the fact that it takes the majority of their time and they need to pay the rent and food and thats why they need SOME incentive to trust a perfect stranger online.
The OTHER reason is that it lowers the level of the industry as a whole, you have the exact same case with artists. I know countless threads and articles earging you to NOT work for free, because then every employer will expect free work. And don't give me the 'work here you get exposure' bullshit. I've heard it time and time again for the last 6 years.
Not ONE (payed) job have i gotten from exposure, it's all from past experience and connections, none from a random person finding an obscure cartoon i made once. And I've taken a lot of free work, I did animation for free for a national film festival recently and still got nothing out of it. But I got the fun of having my work shown on a huge screen. That for me was fantastic incentive!
I dont know why I still keep going, it's probably because of your arrogance towards this field and the people who work in it.

I used to live with an animator like you who had the chance to do work for people without pay but said "I WIL NOT work for nothing" She's almost 30 now and still works as a teller at a bank. Besides like I've said a million times, this animation probably won't make any money and I'm under no delusion of grandeur that tells me that I'm "the best around and nothing's gonna ever keep me down"

In all the fields that you can gauge who is the "best" I would say artistry is not one.
Which one is better? Picasso or Mozart? Not only can you not compare an musical artist with a painter but also which one is "better" is based on personal taste. Therefore being the "best" artist in the state is a laughable idea. You'd have an easier time convincing me you were the best heart surgeon in the state because at least that's statistical.

Also try to think of this: Newgrounds wants you to post your work for FREE so long as you stay within their restrictions and then Newgrounds makes money off of it.

I want people to post their work, my restriction is that it must be for this game, and then I'm probably not going to make money off of it. (If I did I'd share) if you want to know more details you have to contact me so we can work things out. If you've ever looked for a job before you've seen the descriptions that read: "Looking for a dock worker to load trucks" Or something similar. You have to contact them to know what kind of stuff is being loaded onto the trucks, what kind of trucks you'll be loading and most important: What's the temperature of the dock?

You've said you've done free animation for the enjoyment of it. Well then why can't someone work with me for the enjoyment of it? Sometimes working alone can be depressing. Besides since I'm not being paid, I'm ALSO doing this purely out of love for the game. It's confounding how that can be considered a bad thing.

Seriously though, I get it, you don't like me. You don't want to work on the project. That is your right to make that decision but do not try to take away my right to post my request here. Or the right for other animators to decide to work with me.

P.S. I've never killed someone's entire family, put shackles on them and then shipped them overseas to work on my plantation with no option to leave besides death . . . So quit with the drama and drop the slavery word since you obviously don't know what it means. Or if you're talking to someone who does.

I don't know how I missed that TWICE but somehow I read that as "I'm the best guy in my state" which prompted my response. I am admitting my mistake in reading that. Still my point with that statement was to indicate how I'm not going to give up just because some people on a forum called me bad names. If you don't want to work with me there is no need to post any more badgering.

It has been stated multiple times but I'll just write it again:
You did not provide anything to spark curiosity in potential animators. Do you have any artwork / character sheets / storyboards? Show some of them so we know what we are getting ourselves into. If you can't provide anything graspable except words nearly every animator who happens to stumple into this thread will bother to even pm you and ask for details.

Now I'm pretty sure everyone who's interested will have second thoughts after reading your responses to other people's advice. I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly would never want to work with somebody who's been in this situation and acted the way they did, sorry.

Wowowowow take it EASY. I'm not trying to shit on someones dream i'm trying to explain to him that i am no "troll" and know what i'm talking about. I am certainly not shitting on any ones dream. I am just trying to tell this kid that if he doesn't do any real work no one will want to help him. I don't mean to hurt any ones feelings. I was just trying to say what you had said above.
